Default when wrong is right...

my grandaughter got married a couple months ago, and can't cook a lick! Luckily, her husband enjoys cooking or they'd starve. So, she gets this idea to have her "granny, and poppy" over for dinner last nite, and she cooked her first meal.. ok.. she knows I'm on a diet so she says she is having chicken, but what else can I eat? I said green beans, and poppy would eat potatoes.. we get there and she has rotisseried chicken..thats good, right? But... she had green beans alright, but in a green bean casserole.. and the potatoes???? she fixed a sweet potato casserole cause somebody told her I would eat a sweet potato. I took one look at that meal and made up my mind to eat it.. She was so excited about her first meal with her grandparents over as her first guest, and she was waiting and watching so expectantly. I took a little dab of those casseroles, and ate it slower then I've ever ate in my life! We told her how terrific it was, and came home and had a salad!

Lou, I think you are a loving granny, and did exactly the right thing. Not hurting her feelings was worth every carb, right?

{{{hugs}}} to you.

You are so right.
there are just times when sticking to plan could just not be possible.
this was a definite situation.
I'm so proud of your grandaughter for trying.

I like your style, Granny! I think I'd do the same thing. Now you need to buy her a beginner's cookbook with all the legal recipes highlighted!

What a sweetheart your granddaughter is, for wanting to make a special meal for her granny and poppy.

I probablly would have done the same thing. I'd take Nita's advice on the cook book too!
