Just wondering what people did with their old clothing that's too big? In the past I've taken it to Goodwill and put some in a yard sale once or twice. I've thought about maybe doing eBay because I have some really nice name brands that I really hate to just give away to GW (some I've only worn once or twice).

I gave my better clothes to my sister and a girl friend. The rest went to various and sundry charities. Well, I did keep a few things for a yard sale, but only sold a few ball gowns to little girls for dress-up (for peanuts, of course). I considered the eBay route, but then I concluded that for me, it would be too much hassle. Add up all the time:

for making nice photos and uploading them
writing great descriptions and posting them on ebay
answering questions from potential buyers
correspondence with winning bidders
buying packing materials
packing
taking the package to the shipper or post office

If you are already up to speed with eBay and ~enjoy~ doing those things, maybe it's worth it.

Or, you could try one of those auction drop places where they do all that for you for an additional fee.

See if you have a consignment shop nearby. They usually take gently worn clothing and sell them for you, keeping a portion of the sale.

I gave away a bunch of clothes to 2 of my tenants who were glad to get them. I asked them first, and told them that what they didn't want they could pass on or sell at a yard sale. These are low-income women, and the clothes were in good condtion. They actually wore the clothes, often coming to the office to pay rent wearing them. I'd rather give them to someone who really needs them than to mess with selling them.

I gave my size 20's to a friend that her house burned down. I don't know where the others are going though.

I do the eBay thing. Anything that doesn't sell on eBay goes to the Goodwill. I've been selling on there for a really long time. For clothes, make sure that you take the key measurements, bust, waist, hips, length. I get almost no questions from buyers and I can make enough money for a good trip to my local Goodwill to buy some more clothes.

I donate them to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. They routinely come around and pick things up - they send a notification in the mail about when they'll be in the area next, then all I have to do is bag up whatever I have and attach their bright yellow mailer to it and place it at the foot of my driveway. Easy, someone who needs them gets them, I get a tax-deductible receipt, and I don't have to remember to haul them someplace! Plus they take household items as well.

I gave mine to my daughter for her yard sale. Then, she could wear some of them, but now she's lost weight and can't wear ANY of mine or her old ones. she'll have a really nice yard sale this summer.
