I've come to an astonishing realization that my eating habits, my weight, my exercise habits - all of it, are sometimes in direct proportion to my income, lack of, or status of income.
There are times that I ignore my checkbook, times that I ignore my paydays, times that I want to pull my head BACK under my covers and dream that I'm fabulously wealthy and money isn't an issue.
Unfortunately reality knocks me on the head when my daughter reminds me she needs socks, or shoes, or $40 for a build a bear visit.
Reality is that if I don't keep a close eye on my money, just like I do my food, my weight, my other habits - it can cause a disasterous effect.
So I thought I'd start a thread about this topic. It's kind of personal - but hey - there are close friends that I don't tell how much I weigh... so you guys are closer. ;-)
I read a book recently - I like books - called The Automatic Millionaire. I also read Dave Ramsey's 'Financial Peace' book - oh boy, that's a nice title isn't it?
I'm looking into property investment in real estate... the safe way... and I'm tracking EVERY penny I spend with my handy dandy Pocket Quicken on my pda. I get to total up the expenditures soon, and I think I'm going to be quite shocked at what I spend...
So - if you struggle with balancing your checkbook - or your a numbers geek and like to talk numbers... come join me.
