Default Prayers for a fellow low carber

Those of you who are praying people, one of our fellow low carbers from another site is in need of our prayers. "Christin," who was the young woman featured in Woman's World magazine for the Kimkins diet plan has been in a terrible car wreck, along with her two young children and her husband. They were air lifted to different hospitals. The last communication from her mom was that it seemed like the DH and kids had been stablized but Christin was still unconscious.

Thank you for all of your prayers and positive thoughts for this dear family

Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts. I just saw an update that they are all going to be ok. The children have been released to a family member and Christin and her DH are expected to be released sometime today. They were air lifted because they were in a rural area but their injuries aren't life threatening. Good news indeed!

Apparently that update was a little premature. Here's the official word on how the family is doing. Looks like they're going to be ok but Christin's injuries are a little worse than initially reported. Here's a copy of the post from the other site:

Quote:
I spoke at length with Melana, Christin's mom. Things are generally OK, but not all good.

The family was in a fairly new car, highly rated for safety, with lots of good safety features like air bags all around.

The kids are OK, but banged up and bruised and scared.

Brian is more banged up, had a severe concussion, but remained alert and aware, and will probably be discharged today.

Christin is in worse shape. It took them 20 minutes to cut her from the vehicle.

She has no broken bones or apparent internal injury, although her heart and lungs were badly bruised.

Her face is severely battered, bruised, swollen, and cut up, especially around the right eye. She has a long cut through the tear duct and lash line. Her vision is expected to be fine, and they will plan for surgery to repair the damage around the eye once the swelling from her injuries subsides.

Her head took the worst of it. She is drifting in and out of consciousness, and in a lot of pain.

When she is awake, she knows who is with her, and responds to them.

However, she keeps asking the same questions, about how her family is, each time she is awake. Her short-term memory is not good right now.

Apparently, that is normal for this type of injury. It may take a while before she is herself again. With time and rehabilitative care, though, she is expected to make a good recovery.

ETA: Her daughter, who was sitting behind her, also had to be cut from the vehicle. However, the kids were in child safety seats, and had a new gift, a foam chair, sitting between them, so they were well cushioned and protected.

Poor Christin! It's good to hear that the injuries aren't as bad as we feared. Especially the little ones. Christin has a lot of people thinking and praying for her; she and her family must feel especially happy about that.

Vickie, thanks for the update.

Prayers sent.....

I can't imagine what the person who bought that foam chair that sat between the children cushioning them must be thinking. I believe it was a nudge on this person to buy this present.

Thanks Nita and Heather. I know Christin would be touched to know that so many people are praying for her, sending positive thoughts and energy her way, and wishing her well.
