Well............I just perused the Keto website from the link Andrea posted in the newsletter. Holy Cow!!!!! I found out that Nutrition Network here in the Chicago Burbs-Winfield- carries Keto brand items. I have made a list and am going there straight away to get some stuff. I will report back after trying some and let you know how it is. I'm soooooooooo excited. I am also going to Sam's club to buy half-n-half (98 cents per pint, WOW) and cream. WOOHOOO!!!! Love finding new stuff to try out, and I am especially excited to know this store carries it and it only takes me 5 mins to get there. (watchout budget!!!)

Methinks if you're buying Keto products, your budget is going to stretch farther than you think - IMO, most of them are *really* yucky. :0) Course, I've only tried hot cereal, cold cereal, pasta, breading, and ketchup..

Bren,

it's just west of Wheaton

I am not familiar with the entire town, just where the Hosp is.

it's about 25 min from me.

Can't think of a good way for you to get there, but 59 might be a decent route south, then head a tad East if I'm not mistaken.

(geeze, i should just get out a map)

Barb... I'll have to look into that store too. Where is it in Winfield? I could hit it one day after school. (C.O.D.)

Hey guys!!! It's in a strip mall on the corner of County Farm Rd. and Geneva. There's a Walgreens (where isn't there one, LOL) on the corner and then you go in off of County Farm or Geneve. They don't carry all that much Keto stuff, but can certainly order it. They had the Keto bread mix. I made some yesterday........not bad. I made French toast this AM and used Atkins Syrup. I added cinnamon to the batter........NOT BAD!!!!! I bought some whole grain Keto spaghetti noodles too, haven't tried yet. Maybe tonight for dinner. Will keep you posted.

Thanks Barb,

i know the intesection (was farm fields when i used to head that way)

Bren - Geneva road is the same as St Chas road, it changes name as you head West. and county farm rd is the same as Gary Ave near bloomingdale.. so you may get a general idea of the area. (its a cruise to you no matter how you look at it.)

I have to agree with Shrinkydink. I've tried some of the Keto products and they were not good at all.

Now, on the positive side, I have had the chocolate chip Biscotti and the Frosted Flakes that I did like, so to each his own, maybe you'll find something good

Bren, If you were to take 59 - South into West Chicago, you would take a Left at the Walgreens there (1 block from my house!!) then travel down (Washington) Geneva to just past Winfield road. You'll see the strip mall to your right. If you were to come down North Ave., you could take that to Prince Crossing (go south) and turn left at Geneva there. If you come to County Farm, you've JUST past the strip mall.

Actually, County Farm and Gary are 2 entirely different roads. Coming from the west, there is Cty Farm Rd first and then Gary. (County Farm is Barrington Rd. up north of RT. 20)

Hey, maybe we'll run into each other there. Or maybe we could have a meal at the Oakfield Family Restaurant there sometime. LOL, wouldn't that be fun. I would LOVE to meet you Terese and to see you again, Bren!!!

Oh, BTW, they had the crisp cereal, kinda like Rice Krispies. They were interesting. Kinda crispy, kinda chewy. I added two pkts of splenda to my 2/3 cup serving and a dash of cinnamon and half-n-half. Pretty tasty after the additions. I just want to figure out a way to use them to make some kind of cookie. Krispie treats were my REAL downfall!!! Can't they make some kind of low carb marshmallows, LOL.

LOL, Coollll!!!!

OK, Here's my review of the Keto Sketty (spaghetti) IT"S GOOOOOOOOOD!!!! It has more of an al dente result than regular pasta and isn't totally smooooooooooth, but I like that. I only cooked it the 5 of the allowable 7 minutes too. It's serving size is wierd tho, 1.3 oz. Who the heck measures .3 oz. of anything???? I did my best weighing my portion. It ended up being a good sized portion and I couldn't finish my sketty with seasoned ground hamburger and Hunt's tomato sauce. It gets a 9 out of a 10 rating in my book. I had to go pick up some Soy Slender they had ordered for me (chocolate), so I bought another box of sketty noodles while I was there.

Terese..............remember, Oct. 11th.......Fruitful Yields Carb Blowout. I will probably not make it out there 'til about 11AM. Bren, you should join us. And I will email Ilse about it.

We are re-financing and our Mortgage Broker is on Atkins as is most of his family. He gave me a couple of cans of a beverage that is sweetened with Splenda and has a bunch of Herbal energizers. It's called XS Energy Drink. He said he could only find it online. It's good and I didn't have to take a nap in the afternoon like I normally do. It DOES contain caffeine, so some ppl who are sensitive to caf. should not do this beverage. I liked it, it sorta had a carbonated, sweet herbal taste to it, not much unlike gingerale, tho. I am going to hunt it down.

About the rice krispie treats:
Here's a recipe for lc marshmallows I found a while back...

http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/recipes...ertmisc04.html

I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for it. But, when you mentioned krispie treats, my heart did a little tap dance. I used to LOVE them. I really don't like marshmallows, but those treats are a different story. I haven't located any Rice Krispie-like cereal locally, but if I do, I'm there. If anybody tries it, please let us know.
