These are, gods help them, some potential, and even more frighteningly, actual names parents have given their children. Some of my favorites are below:

Q: I've suggested to my sister that she name her little girl to be - Manchester. She's not sure about it but she's considering. What do you think?

A: Clever. Like being named Pittsburg or Schenectady. Kid'll grow up to be beaten to death by Liverpool fans.

Q: Please, someone, HELP! My husband and I are having a horrible dilemma on names. For girls, I like Brielle, Ashlynn, Brooklynn, and Madelyn, and he likes TIFFANY. He refuses to bend!! I don't really mind it, but it was never one of my favorites. What do you think of Tiffany??

A: She's okay, but Debbie Gibson could write her own songs.

Q: For the last 50 years, my family has been naming their children after Southwestern Ontario cities. My brother is Barrie, my sister is Kingston, and my cousin is Markham. I am due in two weeks (it'll be a girl) and I thinking about naming her either York or Orillia. What do others think?

A:I think it's time for a nuclear strike against Ottawa.

(Reader Tom wrote in to suggest that she branch out to include other provinces and name her after this town, the single greatest town in Newfoundland, or perhaps anywhere else. (WARNING - LINK NOT WORK SAFE. Although it's pretty tame as these things go) http://tinyurl.com/feg4

Q: I once met a lady named Rodana. I think she runs a successful internet business.

A: In her spare time she destroys Tokyo.

All these - and more! - were found here: http://tinyurl.com/4ksm

I had a friend named Mary Case. When she got pregnant, I suggested the name Justin if he's a boy. (Get it? Just in case)... she got mad at me!

LOL!! I love these!

When I was engaged to a man whose last name was Strand, we discussed a girl should be named Pearl!

I never married him. I DID marry a man whose last name was Barr - so of course we (jokingly) discussed "Candy" and "Hershey" - luckily for our unborn children, we never had them!

Sometimes I wonder why people name their kids what they do though...sheesh!

My son was named after my favorite character in a TV show that was on at the time....Beverly Hills, 90210. His name is Dylan. My daughter was named by my son after his favorite song, Rebecca Lynn by Bryan White.

I have a student whose name is Jack Daniels (first and middle), he has a sister named Brandy. I think I know what the parents were doing when they conceived.

There was also the Ball family, Cannon and Crystal. This is the truth.

People can do some pretty mean things to their children.

Dyrad, I agree with Barb. Your post are so entertaining .
