This occurred to me as I was using the B.O. (aka Boring Orbitrek): I need a certain kind of music to work out, and not just any will do. I do best with U2 (All that you can't leave behind) and Limp Bizkit. (Even better if it's blaring into my walkman and I can't hear myself huffin' and puffin'!)

This made me curious: What is everyone's favorite workout music, and why?

    Great question, Tara!

Music REALLY motivates me. When I work out I tend to switch what I listen to depending on what mood I'm in. If I'm down I listen to inspirational music like Third Day, Newsboys, Mercy Me, Michael W. Smith. When I have some aggression to 'burn off', I go for the heavy stuff like LimpBizkit (rocks!) or Pillar and POD.

I am looking forward to working out tonight - Thanks!

When I lift, I like to listen to Talk Radio - seems soothing to me and I don't get caught up in the beat. When I do cardio, I really like the Pixies, Sugar (specifically the Copper Blue disc) or ska (Special Beat, Goldfingers, etc.) I never listen to music when running or biking outside, it's too dangerous.

I LOVE THIS QUESTION!! Well, I'm biast cause i'm a musician. BUT, when I workout I usually have a mix CD of everything you could ever imagine, rock, rap, even country. Seriously, I listen from everything to ACDC "you shook me all night long" to Richard Marx "right here waiting for you." Pretty much anything upbeat or any certain song that I kind of get an astetic experience from. Oh how i wish that life was like a musical and we could break out into a dance number every 12 mintues!!

I got to have the funk! I like most dance music, but funk is my thing when I work out!

OHHHH! I love music!! When I exercise, and when I say exercise, it usually is rollerskating or putting that extra oomph into my house cleaning, I like listening to everything to techno remixes to classical. I have a broad range of music I like, from Carlos Santana to Eminem and Kid Rock, Garth Brooks and George Strait to Pachabel and Tchaikovsky. But it really geeks the kids up when I play a little techno, like "Kung Fu Fighting" by Fat Boy Slim, or "All The Things She Said" by Tatu, or "Without Me" by Eminem (I know, bad mommy!!).

I am so glad you asked this question! But, if I had a favorite song to do whatever to, I think that it would have to be "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-lot.

Rock, rap, and dance music. I used to burn alot of cd's to listen to in the gym, but about a year and a half ago, I bought a mini disc player. It is great because of the amount of music I can keep on one disc. Plus, you can record and delete from it, so if you get bored with a song, you just take it off and add a new one. Its great and I really recommend getting one.
