I really love Norman Rockwell's way of looking at American life. I often observe a scene and try to imagine what it would look like in oil, Rockwellized. For instance, I glanced into a McDonalds in a mall and the line was straight back to the mall entrance. Lots of people in that single line. Saw almost every nationality, mothers with babies in strollers, a little old lady that reminded me of Miss Marple, a man with a ripped sleeveless shirt and tattoos from his neck down, a dapper man in 3 piece suit with waxed moustache and old fashion breifcase.
I once took a picture on a ship of a young man alone on the bow, dressed in jeans, shirt, kercheif and beret that seemed to be more of the 1920's era.
Yesterday I really smiled when I watched a cowboy in jeans, worn leather chaps, boots and cowboy hat, riding a fenceline checking the posts looking like he was from another era until.... I finally realized he wasn't scratching his face, but talking on a cell phone!

cognoman -

Love Rockwell as well. I pictured your "scene" and it made me smile.

Right now in Ohio, the scene would be of people bundled up fighting the cold and snow!

Thanks!

Girl, you should be carrying a good camera with you. Folks would pay money for scenes like that

Blessings!

I love Rockwell, too.

Last year, we took a trip to the Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA (about 1 1/2 hours from me), and it was so cool.

Here's a link to their website:

I agree; you sound like you have an eye for photography. (And that dapper guy sounds like Hercule Poirot!)

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I always lament that I never seem to have a camera at the right moment.
I love that museum! I thought of Poirot when I saw him and I watched him to see if he'd tweake his moustache like Hercule, but alas his movement was a little more modern. I thought it a bit comical when "my" Miss Marple starting cramming ff's into her mouth a fistful at a time.

It's wonderful when only a slight shift in our usual way of perceiving life creates such a different perspective.

Thanks, Kim.
