You do beautiful work Donna. I became addicted to scrapbooking when I was lucky enough to become a gramma. I do that in the winter and fall and then spring and summer I am outside gardening. Now that the kids are gone, we have to find other things to keep busy. Keep up the beautiful work.

Oh, the quilt is lovely! I like to knit, tho' I seem to buy more yarn for projects than never seem toget finished! I am just finishing up a lacework shawl - all I need to do is weave in the ends and block.

    It looks beautiful Donna!
I'm a piece quilter too. Though I haven't done any in a while.

When I was newly married we attended a church that had a Sunday morning ladies' Bible class. While one of the ladies read to us or taught a lesson, the rest of us quilted. That's how I learned to quilt. The older, verteran quilters would sit next to a learner and teach us. The quilts were then given to any newly weds or new babies in the community, church members or not. I absolutely loved it and wish I could find the same kind of set up around here. There's no interest where we currently attend church.

Donna, is your frame made from PVC pipe? I've never seen one like it.

Donna, you do beautiful work! The quilt is going to be exquisite when it's finished. The colors are pretty, so opposite of the dark colors I usually see used.

I like to sew and do embroidery, although I seem to not have enough time for either these days. I can relate to the old house thing, we had to put our new washer and dryer in the kitchen last year when we realized that they were not going to make it down our very narrow and rickety basement stairs. Kinda blew my dream kitchen re-model right out the window.

    thank you everyone
i love to sew but when we moved to this house it was hubby's grandparents house (
built in the 40's when it was built there was no bathroom in it!!!
it was up and around the hill lol!)
moving here i lost my sewing room
it was so nice to have everything i needed set up

Donna what is scrap booking i have heard of it just never knew for sure what all was in it
might be something new for me lol

Jen your shaw sound very nice when we going to see a pic of it
i have so much fabric in plastic containers the big 55 gal ones lol i bet there is 6 or 7

Brightlady that sound so much fun how you learned i hope something like that starts again for you
and yes the frame is made out of PVC pipes
the top can come off with your quilt still in it
the take off the legs and the bottom half is flat you can store behind a couch or under a bed i love it

    Donna,
That is so beautiful!! I wish I had some kind of talent... My hobbies are reading and this silly pc! I need a life!

When I was a kid, my mom would buy me those hook rug kits, and I would make several of them over the summers. (didn't have a life then either...lol)

Please keep posting pics of your work, it really is fantastic!

Wow, Donna, great job! I do not sew - well I COULD but it just frustrates the beejeebers out of me!

I paint - oils, watercolors - make jewelry - metal fabrication, lost wax casting - and do stained glass. All of which I haven't done in ages. Sigh. Some day when I retire! LOL!

This is a cardigan I made for my little grandson's pre school teacher. It's a sweatshirt cut up the front and made into a little jacket.

Shelley, that cardigan is the cutest thing. Your work is beautiful, too. I wouldn't mind learning how to convert a sweatshirt, is it a pattern or do you have a book that describes how it's done? I was thinking the same thing, Donna's quilt would go great in my guest bedroom.

Donna, same here with my house. There's just no way to add more space. The kitchen is small and has a window or door on every wall so there is virtually no counter space and very few cabinets. If I didn't have the walk-in pantry, I'd go crazy. A yellow and white quilt sounds lovely, it would be like a ray of sunshine.

    Thanks, Donna and Esther!
I like doing the shirts and jackets...they go pretty fast. I don't know if I could stick to doing a whole quilt...I like fast results...LOL.
Donna, I would think, the same size or just one size up would work; and yes, carfully cut the ribbed band off the bottom, find the center, and cut up the front. Then, turn under about a half inch or so, for the hem.
Esther, I would reccommend a pattern for the first time. Usually the quilt shops sell them by different designers. The schoolhouse one, was my own design with some pieces from other patterns. I just tinkered around til I liked the combination...trial and error for sure...LOL.
I will try and attach another pic of another of my favorites. I haven't had much time to sew lately...I sure miss it.

Those are absolutly beautiful all of them. I just wish I had some time to have a hobby Between three kids 10, 8 and 4, taking care of my bedridden father in law, my two boxer kids (one is due to have pups any minute), taking care of hubby, house cleaning, laundry, whew, don't have time to go pee But if I did have time for a hobby, it is redecorating, I love it. But I wish I knew how to quilt, that would be fun.

Shelley, you are an artist with fabric. The snowmen are so pretty. Thanks for the info about how to do the conversions. I have an old sweatshirt that I was going to get rid of so I'm going to keep it and use it as a practice shirt for cutting and hemming before I put my shears on a new one.
