    Default Carrie's Journal II

    hi there .....
well, i've been around the boards for a while now. but i must confess - i have not been following an LC WOE for quite a while now. i thought my strict exercise routine could help me keep my weight down .... but after a summer of snacking and indulging, the pants are getting tighter, the belly bloat is horrible, and i just don't feel good about the way i look and feel.

(BTW, moving in w/ my carb-addicted BF in may has not helped matters. don't get me wrong, HE is great - but i do NOT need to mimic his eating habits. LOL! i have recognized that preparing dinners will be difficult, however. i have basically told him that when i cook, he will eat what i eat and can add a starch on his own.)

anyway, i've bought and read the SBD book and stocked my fridge. today is my first day. i was reeeally nervous. i tend to become really obsessive about eating "rules and regulations." but i'm just going to do the very best i can. and remind myself that NO ONE is perfect.

i have a feeling i'll be a bit more strict on the carbs than SBD requires, simply b/c i followed atkins about a year ago. but i'm definitely excited about the flexibility of the SBD plan.

    eating for today ....
B: two hard boiled egg whites, three slices canadian bacon, diet soda.
    S: SF jello
L: plain tuna packet w/ big garden salad (spinach, lettuce, mushrooms, green peppers, brocolli) w/ 2 T ranch dressing.
    S: LF mozz cheese stick
D: not sure yet. probably grilled chicken and lots of veggies.

drinking green tea now and lots of water.

Carrie, you can do this. I have four kiddos I have to fix separate things to go with the main course, but I do it and stay strong and away from the mac & cheese (used to be my all time temptation) and all the other high carb things. Let us know how SB works for you. It does give a lot more variety, but I am so happy with Atkins I don't think I could ever change. Good luck!

hey girl... so glad to see ya here!
maybe if YOU can add the LCing to the exercise.. I can add more EXERCISE to my LCing...
funny how one doesnt work without the other...isnt it...

okay.. maybe FUNNY isnt the word...

    irritating as heck....maybe.. ;-)

it will be great to follow your journey on the SBD .... not too many on this board seem to be doing it.. so i am curious to see how well it works for ya!

    MUCH SUCCESS !!

rhonda and kim, thanks so much for stopping by my new journal! always feel loved when others comment in my journal.

i know i will be strong if/when i'm preparing starchy stuff for BF or others. i'm starting LC again b/c i've hit my breaking point. i am SICK of the crap i've been eating. no matter how many miles i run each week, it could never be enough to counter the gummy bears, LF ice cream, popcorn and all kinds of other JUNK.
thinking of this stuff makes me sick. i am READY to eat clean, healthy, beeeeautfiul whole foods!

kim, i am curious about SBD, too. i'm "nervous" to let myself have the carbs i knew were no-no's when i was on atkins. you can drink 2 cups of FF or 1% milk on SBD! shocking, i know! and you can have beans (FF refried, black, kidney, etc). real nice - the flexibility is great!

even if i don't lose drastically, i will be pleased if i can eliminate the CRAP from my diet.

feeling the typical "crappy carb withdrawal" symptoms. groggy, crabby, headache, etc. i know it'll pass soon. felt less bloated today, thankfully!

D last nite: LF turkey and reduced fat swiss rolls, celery w/ hummus, SF jello for dessert

    today ...
    B: leftover turkey/swiss rolls & celery w/ hummus
S: mozz cheese stick or SF jello
L: plain tuna packet w/ garden salad
    S: not sure yet
D: ?? going to the cubs game, so i need to figure out what i can/should have!

YEAH!!! So glad you are back and posting!!! We can do this together (again!) -- I need the motivation!!

Just got back from Africa last night. Beautiful! They are meat and fruit eaters, so I stayed 100% on plan.

    What's going on with school??

    shannon!
i'm so glad you're back from vacation! did you LOVE it there? what kind of stuff did you do? must have been such a wonderful experience!
that is AWESOME that you stayed on plan, too!

yes, we can DEFINITELY do this together. i am really focused right now ... but you know how it gets - lack of motivation will inevitably come knocking on my door!

so how long have you been back on atkins? did you do an induction, or straight to OWL?

anyhoo ... school is great! i'm going to kellogg part-time (getting my MBA) - just finished my first course and got an A! taking two courses in the fall. it's stressful and time consuming (as YOU know!), but SO worth it!
so you're taking a FT schedule this quarter/semester?! are you crazy!? will you be done w/ your degree after that?
    talk to you soon ....!

    Hey!

When I started I recommitted ok-wise. I did find myself eating the bars and sugar free popsicles. Hence, not too much weight loss AND I was endulging too much in happy hours!! HA HA! But now, I'm back. Going to Africa for 10 days and eating whole foods has really opened up the door for me to realize that they are better tasting and better for you. GOTTA run right nwo but will post more later.

shannon, it's weird b/c SBD allows SF popsicles and SF jello, etc, during the first phase. no bars EVER allowed. it's really such a flexible plan. i like it better than atkins b/c i can drink skim milk - and i reeeally missed that on atkins.

anyhoo.....yesterday i finished up as follows:
L: huge garden salad (lettuce, spinach, broc, green peppers, mushrooms, 2 tomato slices, and kidney beans) w/ 2 T ranch dressing.
S: mozz string cheese, 2 T cottage cheese
D: peanuts at the ball game (you can have 15 nuts a day on SBD P1), then an egg beater omlette at home (w/ mushrooms, garlic, green peppers, little mozz cheese, and one slice canadian baccon). dessert was one SF jello cup.

looks like A LOT of food! i am feeling good so far. (am still acting a little pouty when BF indulges in carbs in front of me. but i am NOT deprived, must keep reminding myself of that!! LOL)
    belly bloat is down, too!
also did 35 mins running and 25 mins biking yesterday.

as for today ... i am home sick w/ a real bad sore throat today. :(
woke up late (thank goodness!) - i have been having HORRIBLE insomnia lately!
had some cottage cheese for breakfast so far ......

thanks, april! the encouragement is really helpful!!!

    food for today ...
B: woke up late (b/c stayed home sick) - so i had about a cup of LF cottage cheese and one SF jello cup around 11 AM or so.
    S: large iced tea (unsweetened).
L: egg beaters omlette w/ mushrooms, green peppers, garlic, little parmesan cheese, and two slices canadian bacon.
S: LF string cheese and tall SF/FF vanilla latte.
D: out to dinner at chili's ... "guiltless chicken platter" - grilled chicken breast, steamed broc and zucchini, substituted rice and corn for black beans. the black beans were served in some kind of watery sauce. i was afraid there might be added sugar in the sauce, so i had just two bites.
at home, while watching TV, i had SF cocoa.

at the gym i ran 36 mins and biked 30 mins.
am taking some melatonin tonite to hopefully help me sleep!
