    Default Making Time for ME

Okay... so DH and I did LC about 5 1/2 years ago, and then when I got pregnant unexpectedly (thanks to LC), I had to switch to modified LC. I couldn't eat when I was pregnant, because I had severe nausea through my whole pregnancy, so as soon as I had Austin, I started to eat everything that I couldn't eat when I was pregnant.

9 months later, I was at my all time high weight of 275! We went back on LC and in 3 months I was back down to 235. We stayed on LC for a year, and I still weighed in at 235. I'm pretty sure that it was too many frankenfoods, too much not being honest with myself, and working in an environment that I hated where there were way too many temptations, and it was way too easy to numb the pain of being there with all the "treats" that were around.

So... flash forward 2 years, and here I am AGAIN! My weight when I started was 275 AGAIN. Something must have changed in my physiology though, since I'm not at the same size that I was when I weighed 275 before. Maybe the fact that we live on a small "farm" now, and I have a lot more strength (lifting those 50 pound feedsacks was a killer at first!) I lost 6 pounds in the first 2 days on Atkins, and we're still in week one. I'm not going to weigh again until Monday and I'll update my stats then.

    So... goals this time:

Be honest with myself about what I'm eating
Reward myself (and my DH) for reaching mini goals and just for doing what we're supposed to do with NON-food items
Only weigh WEEKLY since I'm a scale junkie!

    Here's my menu for today

B - 2 hamburger patties with 2 slices of cheese
L - 3/4 cup of broccoli with 1/4 cup of alfredo sauce and 1/4 c mozzarella
D - Chicken Marsala (adapted to LC)
    Garlic Fautatoes
Zucchini sauteed with garlic and crushed red pepper
S - Cheesecake bar with 2 TBS whipped cream

    Calories - 2723
    Carbs - 27
    Fiber - 6

I hate the way that I look now, but I posted some before (current) pics in the photo gallery. Maybe knowing that the whole world can now see how fat I am (instead of only the residents of this pitifully small town!) will help me to stay focused!

Katie, I am so glad you have started a new journal. That is the best way to be accountable to yourself. Congraulations on the 6 pound loss. I didn't even weight myself during induction and then did a modified induction for probably four or five months, staying at around 30 carbs per day. All it takes in this WOL to suceed is commitment.... and I think you have it! Post often.... I look forward to knowing you!

Thanks for stopping by, Rhonda. I am amazed that you could stay at those levels for that long, but when I look back at my success with LC back before I got pregnant, that's pretty much what DH and I did, although there was one incident involving several friends and a flat of strawberries that probably put us higher than we would have wanted to be

Man I was hungry yesterday. Some of it was left over hungriness from Friday, because I didn't get enough lunch, and some of it was exhaustion. Austin came and woke me up at 6am, and I'd been up late the night before... yes, insomnia strikes again, and I decided to apply for any job openings that I could find. Then little man came in and woke me up at 6 AM... I told him Mama needed just a little more sleep, and he didn't come back until 7, but I was SO TIRED!

Fortunately, he's getting to the point where he will let me lay down and take a nap, but I've been trying really hard not to nap so that I will be acclimated when/if I finally find a job again.

It's going to be a good day today! DH is home, and we both love the BBC show, Bargain Hunter. We decided to hold a "mini competition". We each get $20 and can buy as many or few items as we want, and then sell them on eBay and see who makes a higher profit There's a community that is FULL of antique stores near here, and we're going to go after breakfast and "invest" our money... hehehehe... this just sounds like too much fun to me, and should give us some relatively cheap entertainment.

It will be a nice change from going around looking at houses like we've done the past few weeks. I love looking at houses, but it would be better if I could find a cooperative real estate agent!

    B - 2 hamburger patties with cheese
L - skipped because we were running late!
D - steak with hollandaise sauce

    Calories - 1563
    Net Carbs - 0

This was not a good day nutritionally, but after eating so much yesterday, I wasn't all that hungry today. Had a lot of cravings today, which made it really HARD to think of something to eat that was allowable and sounded good.

I wonder if anyone else notices a funny taste from stuff made with Splenda? I used to love the stuff, but anymore I get this off taste when I eat it, and it's seriously affecting my wanting to make anything with it. I'm thinking about buying some fiberfit, but it's kind of expensive. Oh well... time for breakfast so that we can go enjoy this day!

Hope to have a better day food-wise today. Had a ton of fun yesterday though! We went antiquing in the morning and were a little late getting back home. Had to find my babysitter so that we could go to the movies.

We went and saw Lord of War with Nicholas Cage, and it was pretty good. Not at all what I expected. It was based on actual events and was a lot more gritty than I had anticipated. Saw previews for some upcoming movies that I want to see though.

I had a really hard time getting a chance to eat yesterday, but it resulted in another pound lost. I'm going to claim it since, I figure it was about time to lose another pound anyway!

B - Scrambled eggs with crab, red onion, mozzarella cheese and avocado
    L - 2 hamburger patties with cheese
D - Pork loin roast marinated in olive oil and garlic, broccoli alfredo, salad with italian dressing
S - Chocolates Five Ways from the recipe section

    Calories - 1956
    Net Carbs - 15

Hi Katie. Just wanted you to know that I read a post of yours earlier, and I appreciate that you are willing to admit that you are back...again. Me too. It's good that we can all be in this together, the first time or the fifth time!
Hang in there, you're doing great!!

    Thanks for stopping by, Heather

LOL! No point in not admitting it. I think that I have to be truthful with myself about my weight, because if I don't face up to it, I won't be able to lose it.

Oh man... I was so sick after I ate eggs for breakfast yesterday. All I wanted to do was eat something else to try to minimize the percentage of stuff in my stomach that was eggs. Instead I went back to bed for awhile in case it was lack of sleep. I ended up sleeping for 2 1/2 hours. Austin came in at one point and asked me to cook him some lunch, and I told him that I'd get up in a minute. When I got up, he was asleep on the couch. I knew that he didn't get enough sleep either! I cooked our lunch (he wants hamburger patties and cheese for lunch too!), and woke him up to eat.

Then we went to town for awhile. Went and looked at the three houses that I was interested in buying as an investment, and was pretty sure that I wanted to do them. I found a few more to check out on the way home, and then when I got home I was calculating fix-up costs. DH got home, and told me that they sold today. He went by them on his way home from work, and ran into the "new owner". Apparently he lives up North, and comes here once every few months and buys up all the "cheap houses". DH had driven around some too, and came home with the information on the exact same 3 additional houses that I had been looking at!

I called on one of them since it was sale by owner (and its one we'd actually want to live in), and we can afford the down and the mortgage (owner finance), and I'm going to try to go view the house sometime this week. I love the school where we live, but I can't afford the only 2 decent houses in this town, and we need to be settled in somewhere before Austin starts school next year. I don't want him to have to change schools as often as DH and I both did. I think its hard on a kid's self-esteem.

Living in Paris would be a big change from where we've been living. Going from under 600 people to several thousand is major. But the high school there does have a good football team, and it's a little closer to my step-sons. It's also closer to some bigger job markets, and if I'm ever going to find a job, we'll probably have to move. The other good thing is that I'll be right in town, and if I find another piece of property it won't take me so long to act on it!

Food today will be simpler! I already planned dinner and my breakfast and lunch tends to be the same thing just cause I love it.

B - hamburger patties and cheese
L - hamburger patties and cheese
D - Chicken breasts, spinach, mushrooms, onion, havarti cheese, Fauxtatoes
S - SF jello with whipped cream

Down 2 more pounds!!! That was a welcome surprise this morning I was hungry when I went to bed, but I was so tired that I didn't want to get up and have a snack, guess it paid off.

Cleaned Austin's whole room yesterday, and threw away 8 grocery bags of broken toys. I try to do this before his birthday and before Christmas to help make room for newer unbroken toys, plus I'm hoping to move before Christmas so it will be a lot easier to move just the good toys.

Going to look at a potential house today. Not one to flip, but not our long-term house either. If we get this one, it's a 2-3 year house and then I'll sell it and move us hopefully to our long-term house. It's a LOT closer to DH's work, and closer to where I can find a job. If I still don't find a job, it's close to the junior college and I'll follow up on getting a grant and getting at least my AA. Hard to do when I hate my major, but at least it's a marketable major.

Stayed totally on plan yesterday!!! That's 9 days in a row now. Not too many cravings yet, but Sunday was hard because DH was running through a list of foods that he was wishing we could eat. The homemade chocolates on Monday helped... DH and DS call them puppy poop candy, because of the way they looked... don't care, they tasted great!

    Food today:

    B - 3 sausage patties and cheese
    L - 1 hamburger patties and cheese
D - Top sirloin with pepper jack cheese and fauxtatoes
    S - Chocolate mousse

    Calories - 2612
    Carbs - 21

A little high in the calories. Too much red meat, but I don't have anything else that I can think of to eat, and I don't want to go to the store today.

Bad PMS day yesterday... ended up crying for no reason, and of course it was while I was on the phone with DH... luckily he knew why I was crying, and it was a slow day at his work, so he wasn't upset or short with me.

Stayed on plan yesterday. That was a good thing. Planning ahead really makes a difference for me. If I don't make plans, I can't stay on plan. It's pretty simple. Trying to figure out what to make for dinner. DH want's something "italian tasting" with chicken, and I don't feel like making chicken parmesan.

My friend just went back on LC today. It's her day one. I hope she has good luck staying on it Her DH is on low-fat because he has heart problems, and doesn't believe that LC can help correct them... so she's going to be doing lower fat LC, which for me would be really hard!

    B - 2 hamburger patties with cheese
    S - chocolate mousse
L - bacon (yeah, I know... but I was cooking breakfast for DH and it looked good)
    D - chicken cacciatore
S - SF jello and whipped cream

    Calories - 2611
    Net Carbs - 15

We are right in the path for the hurricane, though so far inland that it will only be severe storms here. 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms and ideal conditions for tornados this weekend. Going to head off to the library so that at least I have something to read when we lose power

    Still waiting for TOM :(

Had a good day yesterday. Didn't do a lot, but it was pretty relaxing. Have to get the laundry caught up today so that I can close up the laundry room before the storm hits tonight.

LOL! Yes, Kim... I take vitamins Only 3 more days for this part, and hopefully part 2 will last a very looooong time, since I'd like to live a long time Thank you so much for stopping by!

    I got a job! I got a job! I got a job!

I didn't realize this would feel so good to me! Got laid off over 2 1/2 years ago, relocated almost 2 years ago, and have only been able to get about 5 interviews in that time.

Now just sweating how to pay for daycare next week, until DH gets paid at the end of next week.

I got offered this job a few weeks ago, and turned it down because it didn't pay as much as I needed it to pay to make it cost effective for me to work. She called me this morning, because the person they hired wasn't working out, and met all of my terms. I know this is meant to be, because the daycare that I wanted (right across the street from the job), had no openings before, and when I called her today, she had just gotten an opening this morning!

    I'm so EXCITED!!!

L - Brocolli with Alfredo sauce and mozzarella
    D - Cabbage/hamburger/cheese casserole
    S - 1/8 cantaloupe

Yesterday was GOOD! Tired today, but ate well yesterday. Last day of freedom before my job starts tomorrow, and TONS of stuff to do today. Have to get Austin an immunization, sign him up at preschool, tell him that he's going to start going to preschool (yikes!), drop off clothes at the cleaners for James, cook breakfasts that are microwavable for James for the next 2 days! There's more, but that's all I can think of right now. At least having so much other stuff to think about is keeping me from craving anything!

    Yesterday - Day 14!!!

We did measuring on Saturday night, and I've lost over 3 inches off my waist! Nothing off my hips yet, but my stomach is always my hard part, so I'm all good!
