Well it's been a few months of backsliding and weight gain for me. Starting in September, I allowed myself to eat all those forbidden foods while on vacation. It sorta continued through October November and December. This has a;ways been my pattern, put back on in 4 months what it took me 8 months to lose. I knew I'd get back to it in January.
So here we go again. 31 pounds heavier and more aches and pains than I care to even think about. I need to do this for my physical as well as mental and spiritual well being.
It's nice to see so many still plugging.

Believe me, Gregg, when I say: MOST of us have been there, done that.
It can be really depressing if you focus on it... so DON'T.

I'm glad you are back and back on track.
    You know the routine.
Just keep reading and posting... especially when you feel tempted to cheat.
    I wish you the best!

So good to see you back, Gregg! The holidays (starting in September) were a challenge for me too. We'll get this off together.

Thanks for the responses folks! It feels great to be in control again, although the first few days can be pretty rough.
Summer, Im not dwelling on or beating myself up over my slide. Been there done that!
Pegster, the holidays start earlier every year lol.
I'd forgotten how crappie I feel at this weight. Thank goodness for low carb and LCE.

Gregg, I'm so glad to see you back. I always wonder when we lose a veteran LC'er. I know it's because they either don't need us any more or........ Sorry it's "or" but hey, we've all been down that road, sorry to say.

The good news is that you are here and this just may be the time it will "stick." We'll root for you.

Gregg.....welcome back! Just keep walking...you'll get there! The weight loss/lifestyle change
journey is interesting to say the least. We learn each time we take a detour.Nice to see your back on track!

    BC!

Thank you for the welcome. Yes it was definitely "or". when I'm being "bad" I avoid the boards like the plague.
108?!? my goodness, your are doing great and a true inspiration!

Saftadeb thanks for the kind words. You are right that straying off the path can be a real learning experience. Not only do I look better and fit into my clothes when I'm on track, but I feel sooo much better about myself as a human being too. Basically it comes down to either being in control or out of it.
My whole perspective on life changes when I'm eating right. I sleep better, (no acid reflux), excersise more, take my vitamins, even keep my house cleaner. And my feet and knees are happier too.

BC..what you said abt disappearing from the board is so true. When I am traipsing off into
bad territory , I avoid the boards as well. I think the board represents truth and reality. Its like an alcoholic avoiding his/her AA meeting.

Gregg, you are here, that is 1/2 the battle! We can help you stay on track! Hopefully the next time the gain will only be a couple of pounds. BC, has said this to me often, as time goes on, what you are willing to let the scale slide to gets smaller and smaller. And that is a good thing!

    Thanks Mon,

Progress can be measured many ways. I'm 14 lbs lighter than last Jan. I think BC is onto something there! Makes sense to me. I might have let it go a little higher exceot I was busting out of my clothes and my whole body ached. After only 3 days back on the program, a lot of my arthritic joints feel much better. Hmmm Lc for arthritis?

    Gregg,
I don't think we have crossed paths on the boards before, but I do appreciate your candid thoughts and this discussion. Like others, I believe that sticking with the boards and the encouragement and accountability from the other members has been instrumental in helping me to get this far.

Good luck to you in your renewed efforts.

Gregg, that's my experience too, that my joints (knees especially) feel much better when I'm doing a more strict LC than when I'm playing it fast and loose, even though my weight may be much the same. I would say from my Zone background that controlling insulin swings allows the production of more "good" eicosanoids (hormonal pre-cursors, so to speak), some of which control inflammatory processes

Course it may just be a just because we're so darn happy to be in control!

Mon, Judy, Deb, we know it can be tough to be a vet sometimes, don't we. But then, think of the alternative. Even after almost six years of pretty darn good maintenance, you can't know how much it means to me to know that there will always be good people like you to share the journey with. Thanks for being here.

    Hi Gregg,
I am like you only I am two pounds heavier than I was last January. So I am back at again and this time for good, hopefully I knew it was time when I could fit nothing in my closet except things with elastic waists. We can do it again just like we did last year!!!
