Thread: New To The Site

Hi! My name is Sydney. I am 24 (turning 25 June 26) and I have been overweight my whole life! I started low-carbing in September of last year, but I fell off the wagon and gained almost all of it back. But I am back on Atkins Induction as of May 28! And this time I am here to stay. I know that low carb is what is best for not only weight loss but health.

Well, I'll tell you something...I found this website when I was about 30 pounds down. And I can say without hesitation that the support and info I got from hanging around here, IMO, had a LOT to do with losing a good hunk of the rest of it. While I could be a *little* biased, I think you're in the right place, Sydney...

So how do you think this whole weather thing in KC is going to play out? Why is it as soon as winter is over we get tornadoes and bad thunderstorms?

Sydney, it has certainly been an unusual weather pattern, but that is what makes it interesting. At least we don't get the frequency of tornado watches/warnings as other areas.

That is very true! I grew up in East New Mexico, right on the border of Texas. We considred bad weather a rain that lasted more than 30 minutes and snow that actually stuck to the ground. Even though I've been in the Midwest for five years now, I still have trouble adjusting to the weather at times. But at least we have four seasons, which is something my hometown didn't have.

We do have several KC area folks here. (Me, too!) I've lived in KS totally long enough that I utterly ignore the weather. If I don't like it now, it will be different after a few minutes. Ha!

I feel bad for some of the other folks that have gotten all the tornados, though. THAT's scary. A few thunderboomers don't phase me much.

And you are right about the weather changing on a dime, Goddess. Have you ever heard that there are four seasons in Kansas? They are winter, winter, winter, and construction.
