Thread: Ketosis and urine color?

I know some people say they notice a strong smell when in ketosis, but is there a color change as well? I've noticed my urnine is bright yellow, almost mountain dew colored...is this was because of ketosis? I am drinking about 3 cans of diet rite a day so I thought that might have something to do with it ??????

Are you taking vitamins or brewers yeast? One of the B-complex vitamins will turn your urine to a yellow-green color.

I am taking vitimin B; thanks for the info! I think I might just have to bite the bullet and buy the keto sticks.

Ribolflavin (B2) is the culprit.

with the amount of water I drink, I find my urine is usually clear to slightly yellow, the only time it is darker is first thing in the morning, or after coffee .... otherwise it is pretty clear

I've been bad about my water lately, but today I'm going to try and drink at least 74 oz. And I already have 30 of that gone!

i found that my urine goes to a nearly fluorescent yellow color when i'm in ketosis. it doesnt matter what i eat, whether i take vitamins or not, or how much water i drink. ketosis itself does it for me.

The "fluorescent yellow" color is very likely B-vitamins, in particular, riboflavin (vitamin B2).

I've never noticed the strong smell that others mention. Perhaps I drink too much soda and water. If I DID smell it, I'd probably double up on my fluid intake.

I'm very happy to use the sticks. I can't smell the ketones on my breath anymore except during peculiar times. I think I've acquiring an immunity to the smell. The sticks seem to give me more reliable feedback.
