    I don't know what my ccll is at this point. I know this is dumb on my part but..... I'm into my 7th week and should be at 45 grams per day. Most days I don't eat that much. Usually between 30-40 per day. I haven't lost any weight this week, but I thought it was due to the sugar-free candy I overindulged in. Help! Should I stay at 40 carbs or less or keep uping my carbs? Sorry this is so long, but I don't know that to do.

    If you had a cheat free week (or low cheat) and lost nothing I'd keep the carb level the same for another week. If there is still no loss cut back 5 grams.

    Hello shay,

    Some times our bodys just need time to catch up with its self. But if you over indulged in S/F candy (assumming it was chocolates?) then it probably had sugar alcohols in it which for a lot of ppl can raise there blood sugar causeing them to stall. So I would do as rob suggested.

    Some of us find we have to count sugar alcohols at "full face value" rather than as "net carbs". The theory is that some people can metabolize sugar alcohols just as well as regular sugar. That seems to be the case for me anyway.

    When figuring net carbs, the only thing I subtract from total carbs is fiber. I found I wasn't losing weight if I ate the so-called "low carb" bars and candy. If I eat them at all now, I count the ~all~ the grams from sugar alcohols as carbs (the exception being erythritol - which is in a different class of sugar alcohol - that I'm experimenting with lately).

    Anyway, if it happens that you are also a person who can metabolize sugar alcohols, your effective carb intake may be higher than you think.

    We keep reading about how many people experience stalls when eating the bars and candy. I think it's kind of a shame that the nutrition industry is pumping out all these products that can sabatoge weight loss.

    Yup. What Rob, Tanya & Teel said!

    Finding your individual CCLL is a trial and error thing, and you can't count on the "net carbs" listed on various lc "treats." Deduct only fiber from the total carbs on everything, and you can't go wrong in finding the number that's right for you.

    {... advice from one with a totally "talented" metabolism which can use most sugar alcohols - erythritol is an exception - as easily as it can sugar. My blood glucose levels proved that to me. }

    The best approach is to keep it real until you find your CCLL. Once you've found it, then you can experiment, if that is your desire, with iffy items and see what they do to you.

    AND, congratulations on your rate of loss! You've been averaging a couple of pounds per week, and you don't want to go faster than that - you need to give your skin a chance to "shrink" with you as best it can. Many of us (well, me, anyway) averaged more like .5 pounds per week! Fortunately, it's not a race, and those who learn to stay within the guidelines dictated by their particular metabolism, will get where they're headed in due course. ... and - best part - be able to stay there!

    Shay, if you're frustrated in your attempt to figure out your CCL by mini-stalls, etc., you can always try the old-fashioned method, which is using the ketostix. The original version of WOE worked something like this: Up your carbs for a week, test your ketone levels, and if you fall out of ketosis, back off on your carbs. If you don't fall out of ketosis, up the carbs again next week.
