    Default When you reach your goal !

    When you reach your goal weight, be extremely aware that your eating and exercise program that allowed you to lose weight is almost exactly the same as what you need to do to stay at your goal ! Once you reach your target, you cannot allow carbs to creep back up, nor can you reduce your exercise. This is where folks can lose focus and start gaining - like I have done in the past.

    I would like to second this. I found some of my old food logs and I am eating similar meals and carb levels when I initially lost my weight (even with alcohol and cheats).

    HOWEVER, my exercise level is much less than it used to be. I am now maintaining 8-10 lbs higher due to my decrease in exercise (and slower metabolism due to age is probably also a factor here). I either need to step up my level of exercise or cut my carbs to a lower level.

    Also, keep in mind that it is less motivating to maintain your weight at goal than it is when you originally lose it. And once you lose the weight, society is less supportive when you refuse to eat treats.

    I find that posting on the forum here helps to keep me on track.

    I would like to third it! My diet is pretty much the same as when I was losing. I do, however allow myself 1 or 2 cheat days a month and still maintain.

    I don't want to tempt anyone here... stay true to what you believe... but I have migrated into a maintenance plan that I am very happy with. I have not gained an ounce and I seem to actually be losing at a very slow rate. I eat a low carb/cookie diet plan during the week and one day a week (for me it's friday or saturday) is pretty much a free day where I go out to eat and have whatever I want. This assuages my fears of "I won't ever get to eat that again???????" but still keeps my in control.
