Kitty Welcome to the Furkids Corner!

We have lots of proud pet owners here, so I thought I'd open up a spot for folks to discuss their special furry family members and general pet chat.

Besides, I really like those cute pet pix!

Hope you like it!

Happy Furkid Chat, Folks!

Great idea, Dixie.

For those whose pets don't have fur (birds, fish, snakes, rats, etc.), - I hope that these are welcome, too. After all, a pet is a pet, regardless of what it is, or whether we think it's a good pet or not. If it's loved and taken care of by its owner, then I suppose it could be lumped in with the "fur" kids!

I knew a woman who had an iguana - a beautiful creature, and she doted on it. Didn't have a speck of fur!

Thanks, Dixie. Everyone loves to share their fur/feather/scale kids tales and pictures.

oh absolutely, nita! i was gonna say i don't discriminate based on fur, but actually, i kinda do.

i hate tarantulas, and it's their furry legs that especially creep me out...but for the purposes of the forum, no...

We used to have tarantulas living in the yard next door, and they'd come to "visit" us! Haven't seen one in years. I don't currently have pets, unless you count the lizards living in my office at work. I'll see one nearly every day climbing the wall behind my computer monitor. I think it's more than one, because they seem to be different sizes, not longer than 6 inches, though. They're too fast to really get a good look at. They crawl up behind the bulletin board on the wall. The wall is brick, so they get a good grip for crawling. Since we get spiders in here, too, I welcome my new little "pets" because I know they'll eat the spiders!

Guys, when I lived in Phoenix we had a lady admitted to our emergency room because a group (gang? bunch? tribe?) of tarantulas ejected their needle like leg hair into her face. She was checking under her house and disturbed them. She was sore and had to go on antibiotics but was okay. I shudder everytime I think about it.

....REALLY EEEEW...and more!!!
I would've had to be admitted to the cardiac ward if that happen to me!!!!!!!!! Of course I don't see me checking under ANYTHING where something with 6 legs(or more) would live.

Sorry....I know it's live and let live, but.....the only good spider is a DEAD spider!!!!!!! ack!!!!!!!!!

Guys-Just one of the many oh-too-horrible-to-think-of stories you hear when you work in hospitals. In Phoenix, I heard the tarantula story, the poor lady stung on the butt by a scorpion story (she said she didn't blame it-she sat on it), the lady chased by a gang of drunken squirrels story (had imbibed fermented berries from a tree and got rowdy), and on and on....

well, the drunken squirrel story at least doesn't sound so disturbing, although the lady chased would probably disagree...

Great photo! The poor lady broke her ankle while running away. And you must be a whole lot braver than me. The thought of being chased by a gang of shrieking dipso squirrels gives me the chills. The lady called the ER nurses the next day and said when she got home there were all these little sleeping squirrel bodies littering her back yard. She said it looked like that railroad scene in Gone With The Wind with all the dead and dying soldiers. A few hours later they all woke up and staggered off. (I wonder if they had headaches?) Anyway-the story entertained the whole hospital for weeks.

no...it would disturb the heck outta me if it was happening to me, no kidding...but then there's the comic element of the story, too. i have to admit i have to chuckle at what a vivid mental image that makes...
