Thanks, Dix. I have to face the fact that Oz is getting on in doggie years. Not extremely, but enough that I see him changing.

Eh. We have to face it, yes, but it doesn't mean we'll like it. I do believe all the love and affection he gets from his family no doubt helps make it an easier transition for him, though.

heartcard Re: Ozzie's Place

Ozzie would like to share a little space in his furkid journal to honor his big brother, who departed for Rainbow Bridge on
May 4, 2006.

Two years ago today our precious Modie passed away. Seems like forever that he's been with us. This was my journal post that day, it explains everything...
Quote:
My little Modie's journey came to an end today.

For several weeks he has been in declining health. He had congestive hearth failure which led to acute renal failure. He quit eating his dog food a week ago and would eat what I would prepare for him. He enjoyed his doggie treats until last night when he refused those. It's too painful to write about the details at this moment. I just wanted to let you guys know he is gone, we had to have him put down today. He was about 3-4 years old when we rescued him and that was back in 1991. He was with us 15 years this March. We're all taking it pretty hard.
Here is a link to the website when Modie got to be
Dog of the Day. That was in June 1999. It explains how we came to rescue him.

DS2 created this tribute for Modie. Be forewarned it is a tear jerker. There's music with it, make sure your speakers are on.

Thank you Dixie and Judy. Modie was a very special boy and he is still very missed by our entire family. This has been a sad day.

Flower Re: Ozzie's Place

Ozzie and I dug in the dirt yesterday. He was back in the cart helping me bring some pots around to the patio. He has a little piece of his tongue missing at the tip end. Look closely and you can see it in this picture.

Isn't he cute!

I so loved seeing dear Modie's picture again, Susie, and re-reading his story. What a special little boy, and I know he's still your Angel Dog.

Sus, I'm wondering if it's a harness making Ozzie so sore, or if it's as much the length of time he has to be on his feet, especially with one or another of his back legs cocked out to shave those cutie poodle feet. I don't think any of my groomers have ever used a rear harness, but I thought they went under the waist or abdomen. Like I said, I don't have any experience with that but I feel so bad for Ozzie that he's in pain after grooming!

Awww, sistashell thanks for the comments about our little Oz. He's one special little boy.

Bren, I know his fatigue and soreness have everything to do with how they must stand him for grooming. I would love to inquire, but his groomer is a stout lady with a very strong personality. She does a good job with him, but I just hate it that he gets so sore and is out of sorts for over a week afterward. Do you have any ideas on how I could approach her?

Ozzie is going to the doggie spa/retreat this weekend. He will be staying in the "Serenity Suite". It's a special place for for quiet or older furkids to stay. It has gotten awesome reviews. My nephew and Uncle D. will both be attending the graduation, they are usually Ozzie's caregivers when he can't go with us.

Susie - You do spoil that boy! He's a cutie though. I guess I'm no better. If i take a vacation I always find a place that accepts pets. Of course you'll be too busy this weekend so a "serenity suite" is a good substitute.
