Default Rob's Fur family

I'll start with my dog sophie. she will be 9 in October. When the Eastern part of North carolina was devastated by the flood of 99 caused by hurricane Floyd's arrival right after Hurricane Dennis. Tens of thousand of pets were found to be homeless. Massive efforts to place these found animals were undertaken. Dogs and cats were sent all over North Carolina to aid in their adoption. My niece chose sophie from one adoption fair. Unfortunately she was living with her dad in an apartment that didn't allow dogs over 30 pounds which sophie reached before she was 4 months old. My sister agreed to give the dog a home. a decision that was short-lived when her landlord came by and saw sophie. My sister already had 2 cats and the landlord wanted no part of the destruction a puppy can accomplish. So I agreed to hold sophie until, my sister and her fiancee could find a new place that accepted pets. 6 weeks later they announced they weren't going to move after all and they would need to take sophie to the pound. Over my dead body! I smelled a setup but after 6 weeks of living with sophie I was in love.

There are more photos in the photo section. but here's one I haven't posted yet. could you take that expectant little face to the pound?

Awwwww. She's so adorable, Rob. I would have been a total sucker for her, too.

my second furpal is my cat splenda, so named because she's white fluffy and sweet. She really is a sweetheart. Her story is easier to tell. a neighbor up the hill from my condo got this cat and left it outside all the time. At the time I was under the impression she was a stray because even at 3:00 a.m. she would be outside. Then we hit an unusually cold spell. temperatures hit single digits overnight. This poor cat was out there one morning when i walked sophie. poor thing looked miserable. I waved to her and she ran down the hill and to my amazement she and sophie started rubbing their cheeks together. Ok that's all it took. I let her in from the cold and she came back to my place ever since.

Can't forget the latest furkid edition my akita-husky mix Sandy. Long story short - My sister agreed to watch her daughters full blooded alaskan husky while they went on vacation. Unknown to her, Jeff (fiancee) had agreed to watch his friend's full blooded akita while his friend was out of town. Julie (husky female) goes into heat and Bear (Akita) is only too happy to help her out. well 6 puppies later and here she is.

I found out later that she wondered whatever happened to her cat. but since she was unwilling to let splenda into her home, it was up to splenda which home to choose. The warm one or the one that was freezing cold.

GRRRRRR! Why get an animal if you're not willing to take care of its basic needs? Splenda was very lucky that you had the kindness to take her in.

Beautiful fur family, Rob, and great stories for each one. Truly, I do believe our furkids pick us more than the other way around.

Love all three of your furkids, Rob. There's something about that little face of Sophie's that is just precious. I love hearing about the rescue stories. Modie was a rescue and of course, so is the Ozman.
