| Our neighbor has a black walnut tree and a pecan tree that are right next to our property line, and the doves and other birds like to congregate in them. We have a pair of cardinals that come regularly to our feeders, and at first they were really bossy with the sparrows, but when the finches came, the cardinals were overwhelmed by their sheer numbers, so now we have the cardinals, the sparrows, the goldfinches, the red house finches, and doves, all eating together every day. What a sight! Alas, I have not been able to get a good picture of them through the window. Perhaps one day soon...... I'm going to try to post a picture of our "dove tree" and the finches in our little tree.

| Nita, they are the best pets to have! When our present pets are gone (dread that day.....) we plan on only having our wild birds for our pets. The chickadees, the nuthatch, the woodpecker and blue jays are at my bird feeder all winter. The chickadees come right to me, just about land on my head! Did I mention that presently my bird feeder is my deck? The original bird feeders are out in the backyard and I like to see the birds up close. Our three cats love to watch them from the sliding glass door that goes out to the bird feeder........mmm deck! Hobo, my cat that goes out cold or not, tries to kill them and has. Sometimes I have had to save them from her. Which is why I have decided not to replace my little girls in the future, as much as I love them and cats in general. I enjoy the birds but can go places and do things and not have to worry about the pets at home. I think my husband is all "petted" out by now. katlupe |

| i certainly enjoy the "pets" that we don't directly take care of as well. my place is surrounded by a very healthy squirrel community, plus we get birds of all kinds and hummingbirds in the summer, whom i especially love watching. it's delightful watching all of them and really perks up my day to spend some time admiring our little animal friends.
