| Thanks for starting the thread, Henry. It's always interesting to see what folks decided to do with the holiday eating. You see some very creative ideas! This year, it will be me, my husband and daughter. We really enjoy the Turkey, so we'll be having it. I get a huge turkey and DH always enjoyed the leftovers for a few days. He loves turkey! My daughter often requests some traditional (read: carbier) food, and often I do comply, although only the side dishes. In other words, she may get some potatoes or rolls, but absolutely no "real" desserts. I do get SF or make my own LC desserts, though. I don't have a set menu at this point, but I will get there.

| My sister is once again cooking a traditional thanksgiving dinner for anywhere from 9 to 18 people. last year I brought a s.f. dessert and cauli-Brie fauxtatoes and it was a big hit but it sure was expensive to make enough for a crowd. I think this year I'll just bring a s.f. dessert or 2. Since my sister is a type 1 diabetic she appreciates my s.f. efforts. ![]()

| We are invited to SIL's house this year to have dinner with all of her new in-laws....they are Italian and cook a lot so I have no idea what will be served...I will be bringing a few lc sides and a sf dessert so I can be sure to have something to eat. I'll be making a dinner the next day for my side of the family but haven't decided if I'll do another Thanksgiving dinner or if I'll make something else. We'll be including the grandparents as well as a few out of town relatives.

| My stepdaughter is quadriplegic and my home is not accesible. So once again, I will cook what I can the night before, and drag all the food and fixins' to her house. We bought a free range turkey this year. I am going to go as low carb and low sugar as possible. My other stepdaughter swears she can taste the artificial sweetner in any dish. We'll see. She commented "Couldn't you just forget your diet for that one day?" I told her I could not, it just isn't worth feeling horrible. (I am diabetic and have come to hate the fuzzy, groggy, draggy, grumpy high BS feelings). I will NOT go off my low carb eating for even one meal! I have been experimenting with some low carb dishes that I think eveyone will like. BUT the green bean casserole is out, the mashed potatoes or out, the broccli and cheese with rice, is OUT. I may make them for the others but I won't eat them. I'll just have turkey, AND some ham, plain green beans. brocolli and cheese without the rice. No potatoes, no bread. Plenty of salad, and a peice of sugar free pumpkin pie with REAL whipped cream. Sounds good to me! randysgrandma |
