| Are the FDA and Coca-Cola at War Over Regulatory Power? From reading this article, it appears to me that the FDA has NOT approved Truvia, what they have done is say they have "no objection" to the use of Truvia. That is a big difference, from a regulatory perspective.

| Very interesting behind the scenes information. Thanks, Henry. I don't, however, agree with the writer's "solution" : "Does that mean we should "strengthen" the FDA? Nope; we should radically reform it and split it into two agencies: The FOOD Safety Administration and the DRUG Safety Administration. And finally, we need a third agency called the Topical Product Safety Administration that would ban all the toxic skin care and body care products made with cancer-causing chemicals. All three agencies should be led by consumer health advocates who have no ties to industry whatsoever." This is the silliest thing I've ever heard. Replace one bureaucracy with three? And HOPE that all three new agencies wouldn't be run by industry re-treads? Or that "consumer health advocates" - whoever they are - don't have their own agendas which may not be all that pure? Babe in the woods, there.
