| Hello, Margaret. Probably depends on what you mean by "diet pills." At least so far as I'm aware, most of the folks here don't use a lot of that sort of thing, as LCing by itself reduces appetite and eliminates cravings for many folks. Some folks will sometimes add something like herbal products to help raise metabolism (similar to what used to be marketed as "Atkins Accel" or various supplements that supposed to help with losses - stuff with Chronium, for example, etc.), or additonal vitamin supplements designed to help with weight loss one way or another. I also know the subject of Carb blockers have come up here before, and there is a mixed reaction to them. While it's possible they help somewhat, they will NOT allow you to eat whatever you want and continue to lose weight. That much I know. Overall, the concensus (which I agree with personally) seems to be that there is no pill that replaces the need to make solid dietary choices. While carefully chosen supplments can probably help, the main part of the work is generally done with making different choices. Others, of course, may have other opinions. But do be wary of the kind of stuff you see on TV - you know, the "this is ONLY for people who have a lot to lose and that's why it's so expensive" commrecials. I've looked up the ingrediencts in some of these products, and they are nothing but garden-variety herbal supps designed to speed metabolism. Some people may also be sensitive to the products in them, and exercise is always an option to speed metabolism that's good for you for sure! Good luck.

| I work for a Doc. Most people that he agrees to put on diet pills end up losing a great deal of weight but also put it right back on and then some. Doc does not like to give them out. BUT, will if he feels the outcome of losing weight will really benefit the patient. These are folks that he's lectured for years about losing weight with zero compliance. So he figures.....maybe, just maybe they will lose and be healthier. When someone goes on them I tell them.....you have to take seriously changing your eating habits/exercise habits and make that a life change and not just to look good. Or the weight comes back on. Also diet pills may work for a very short time then just stop. Doc will give someone a mo. then have them come in for a weigh in, no charge. If it's working he hands out another mo. When they come back he tells them they have to go a mo or two without. He usually will not give more then two mos in a row. Just what I see from a medical stand point.
