![]() A visit to the supermarket makes you realise just how much "unhealthy" (i.e high-sugar/high-carb) food is out there. It really isn't the slightest bit surprising that so many people struggle to manage their weight - especially since it seems so many people either don't know about or don't realise the benefits of LCE. |

| I know just what you mean, Ian. In the beginning, it's a real eye opener. The way supermarkets are set up here, 90% of my shopping is around the perimeter of the store - veggies, deli, meat, fish & dairy. I hardly venture down the aisles unless I need something like peppercorns or chicken broth.

My observation on that question is that actually, LC gets easier over time, provided you don't get sloppy and start telling yourself "a little won't hurt" or "I deserve a treat" - being overweight is NO treat! If you stick to plan, it stays easier to remain on plan because your tastes actually change and you lose the drive for the foods that aren't good for you. Those that flirt with their old ways, albeit in less extreme forms, have problems. (I am not pointing the finger at others, by the way. I'm speaking from personal experience.) Glad to have you with us!

| The stores are trying to tempt us. But I just keep thinking of what Dr. Atkins says about that food. I hardly ever bought packaged foods anyway, so that was not my problems. But I did like chips, dip and chocolate kisses. Now, I don't even miss them. I am having fun finding recipes to try and even my husband is trying them. Besides there is an awful lot of food in the stores that we can eat! katlupe |

| It seems around here in ND, the outside aisles are the way to go for me. I am a huge beef fanatic so going LC a few years back made it easier. The comments I hear all the time are "I could never go without my potatoes and bread". I have no desire to eat breads or potatoes but of all the foods I miss is cereal, especially Wheaties soaked in sugar. Cheesy scrambled eggs and turkey bacon is what I love for breakfast now. |

| I agree with Rick. Especially here in SoCal grocery shopping is a snap, plus I have fewer items in the basket and I can go through the quick check. The only secret to grocery shopping is you just go around the outside aisles. All the LC foods are there. I come into the store, go to my right through the veggies, turn a corner into the meats, finish up on the dairy aisle, the frozen food section, thru the check out and I'm on my way. For the first time in ages, I stick to my grocery list and only put the stuff on it that I need to seek in the other aisles. I leave my cart at the end and don't take it up the side aisles, that way you can't load up on all the other stuff. It really does get easier the longer you live the LC WOL. Mary in SoCal |

| Shopping with a list is the way to go. I have always done that anyway. I thought the same thing Rick, that I could never go without bread and potatoes either. But since strarting LCE in December I have not had an even an inkling for a bite of either, and I prepare them for my husband. I really love the foods we can eat and I am never hungry. katlupe |

| Right on katlupe!! It is amazing how one loses the lust for potatoes and bread. In our small town, one of the cafes will make me a "Protein Platter" It is a tossed salad with cheese, bacon bits and ranch dressing followed by a 8 oz. hamburger steak with two fried eggs. That with a big glass of ice water and you are full!! When you set your mind to it, eating LC is a snap. |
