Default Anxiety, and dreams

One of the things I have noticed since starting LCE is that a lot of my anxiety has disappeared. On a high-carb diet I am a very anxious person and tend to worry a lot and ruminate over everything. But since I started LCE much of that worry and anxiety has simply dissipated. I think ketosis must be good for my brain! I just seem to have this feeling of ease and warm mental glow that I didn't have before. Have other people noticed a similar effect in themselves? I almost wonder if the modern (high-carb) diet is contributing to the mental stress that so many people find themselves suffering these days.

The other thing I have noticed is that I am having a lot more dreams while I'm asleep. I seem to be sleeping much better than before I started LCE. (Perhaps that is helping reduce my anxiety? Or am I perhaps sleeping better because I am less anxious? It is hard to determine cause and effect!)

well, many physical conditions can contribute to anxiety. and how you take care of yourself physically undoubtedly is related to how well you sleep and had you feel during the day. good nutrition can sure do some wonders, huh?

glad to hear you're feeling good. that's not only good news, it's a good sign.

Dr. Larry McCleary wrote "The Brain Trust Program", and says that our brains run very well on ketones, that low carb eating is good for anything brain related, including the angst of menopause. Very interesting. It's a good book. A lot of people lose their "brain fog" when they start cutting out carbs. And yes, they sleep better, too.

You know now that you mention it.........I am much better than I was. I was a worrier also. Could not lay down when I went to bed at night. I'd sit up for hours, sleeping upright and then my back and neck would hurt so bad. My husband was really concerned about me.

Within three days of starting this way of eating.......gone! Just like that! I have more energy and am motivated more to do things. I had even become lazy doing things for myself, such as my hair and make up......not really depressed, but more like what's the use? Now my mind is clear and I am doing things I had put off or just stopped doing. I am fired up about life!

Hands down this program is amazing............I love the dreams, I love the less stress, I haven't taken an allergy pill since December. I wake up feeling smaller and not bloated! With all of those benefits alone just make one happier in general. I sleep so sound now that it is scarey. I am sure that my cats torture me while I am sleeping just to have fun.
Psst...I like the dreams that I am eating cake, and goodies....in the dream I am fearful and then I realize that I am dreaming and this is a carb free dream.......

Good Thread!

It turns out that with LCE, by reducing your insulin levels and raising your protein intake you can increase the levels of good eicosanoids, and lower the levels of bad eicosanoids, in your body. (The book Protein Power has a whole chapter on eicosanoids.) One particular eicosanoid, PGD2, promotes sleep, according to Wikipedia. Perhaps this is some part of what is going on.

The good eicosanoids have a variety of beneficial effects, and seem to be desired. The bad eicosanoids can often have opposite effects to the good (like say disrupting sleep and causing inflammation) and are therefore generally undesirable. Bad eicosanoids have been linked to depression and anxiety, among other conditions.
