| Tina, Most of us have *fallen off the wagon* at one time or another. That's a fact. You've got to move on...no guilt, no looking back. What's done is done. Get on with the plan. As far as any advice...I'd say you probably need to examine why you're self sabotaging, yanno? No one can do this for you, except you. Make a list of all the reasons you want to lose weight; make a list of all the reasons to stay over weight;(which will probably not be very many, eh?) Put your list where you can see it; build on it...use it for inspiration. Just remember it's all about you!! This is your time...your time to get healthy...your time to lose weight...your time to change your WOE for the rest of your life! be well. hth s

| Yep! What Shelley said. I would suggest that you wait for 2 or 3 days before weighing. and always weigh first thing in the morning as weight fluctuates wildly throughout the day. Good luck!

| it happens, tina. my first question: did you get what you were looking for from the offplan eating? did you feel better-physically, mentally, emotionally? did you really enjoy it? and how did you feel after the fact? processing this, and looking at why you made the choices you did is a way to make the blip work FOR you instead of against you. what led up to it? were you feeling sorry for yourself, tired or stressed, telling yourself you've "been good and therefore deserve" a treat? find out why you made those descisions and you have a defense next time the question arises. second line of defense: have snacks, treats, and easy LC choices at the ready. it's a lot easier to skip the sugar snack when you have something in the fridge waiting for you that sounds just as appealing. so your snacks can't just be LC - they have to be appealing, too! and as already suggested, you're best off to lose the self-critisism here. it doesn't serve you. guilt is definitely fattening! understand that you'll probably experience a surge on the scale-some of this will be water and gone in a few days, so don't freak out. i personally avoid the scale for a few days after some dietary indescretions, because i already know what it does to me. i do better focusing on my better habits instead of feeling bad about the slips. up your water for a few days, and be aware you also may find yourself hungrier than normal, having some cravings, or in general feeling under the weather depending on how big a difference your recent eating is from your normal eating. this is all to be expected, and part of the price we pay when we slid off what we know works for us. hang in there dear, and keep the faith. find what you can learn out of this and it can be an asset to your future efforts. peace out.

| Welcome aboard and hello! I have self-sabotaged so many times that I am embarrassed to say it. Without knowing the true trigger it's hard to say how to prevent it from happening again. However, I know that motivational pictures, walking away, thinking about it and not only the effect on youe body but, the way you feel physically and the mental guilt afterward is just not worth it. I have tried everything to stay away, I found myself smelling an M&M bag yesterday..now I am losing close to a 1/2 pound a day....what am I nuts. I put it down and said...contain youself! You can get through this "momentary afflication." (that is what doc atkins used to call it) I have this certain bikini in mind that IDEALLY I would like to get into this summer. M&M's and bikinis.....seem to clash. I guess what I am saying is find something that you want, have it be not being winded while chasing a child, to wanting to look good in shorts this summer, count the days til Spring....and think about the nice weather and see if that is a motivational factor. We can only hide under sweaters for so long. I have motivational sayings on my fridge, that I can do anything that I put my mind to...no matter what and well the victoria secret bikini. Best of luck, brush yourself off and move on past this. Keep us updated.

| I am far from an expert, in fact this is the first day on my new plan, but I did have success with Weight Watchers years ago...because I was motivated! Back then I was much, much younger and the motivation was all about looking great. Now I'm much, much older, and the motivation is to improve my health. That is enough for me. I feel without some kind of motivation, we just can't succeed. |
