Default i am STARVING

haven't been here in a while, but i could use any advice ya got!

i've started atkins induction, (1 1/2 weeks ago or so) and am eating my 20 grams of carbs, following the rules, eating lots, but i am so bloody starving it's driving me nuts. i feel hungry immediately after any food! like, this morning for breakfast i had 2 eggs, 3 little slices of haloumi fried with the eggs (YUM), and 1/3 red pepper. afterwards? starving! then i had a small rissole with green beans (leftovers) for a snack.....hungry afterwards. then for lunch i had a bunch of chicken in cream of cauliflower soup...hungry still. then a flaxmeal muffin (1 tbsp butter, 1 egg, 2 tbsps flaxmeal, bit of vanilla, stevia and cinnamon). still hungry! (you get the idea). finally had a chunk of colby cheese. still feeling the same. i'm not only hungry, but cranky - not good with 2 kids.

i should also mention that i've been drinking 3 750ml bottles of water a day, plus a cup of strong tea (no milk) in the am, and today i had a coffee, (usually only have the tea, but today i needed that coffee; have counted the milk carbs), plus extra water when i work out....

i am so tired of feeling so hungry. if anyone can suggest something, i'd appreciate it (do i maybe need more fat??? more protein?? please help)

thanks in advance!

I have no clue what haloumi or rissole are but I can say if you are hungry eat more protein and fat like you mentioned. Honestly I don't think you are eating a lot at all. The food that seems to fill me up the most is beef for some reason. A big steak or a couple burgers wrapped in lettuce with sugar free castsup and mayo. I think is the fat.

It is normal for me to be hungry frequently. However if it isn't normal for you could it be a bit of pms setting in?

that's what i thought at first (pms) - but it has lasted well beyond (i usually feel like a ravenous beast for a day or 2..or 3, but this is now almost 2 weeks)

i had 4 slices of roast beef a while ago....sigh. maybe i do need to mix it with more fat...yeah, maybe not eating enough!

going to eat now....

thanks mick

oh, haloumi is a cheese (VERY nice fried!!), and rissoles are little burgers with a bit more spice, so they're a bit more flavourful...i'm in australia...rissoles are big here

Pms for me is ovulation on~ sigh! Oh Rissole sounds good! Ah Australian! Thats why I haven't heard of it.
I'd eat until you are full with protein fat and induction veggies. I don't personally think there is a thing wrong with eating 3 burgers if you are hungry. If the neeed arises to count calories on Atkins it is much later in the game.
Do you like heavy whipping cream? That is a yummy treat with lots of fat.

Tracy, I've had the same thing happen to me, too. And it really does help to add more fat to your diet. Eat fattier cuts of meat, add coconut oil to your foods, add butter to your hot veggies, etc. Make sure you eat full-fat salad dressings, etc. Your menu doesn't look as though you are eating a lot, so add in a bit more food. If you still have a problem with hunger, then perhaps it's time to add a few more veggie carbs daily. And I'd use heavy cream in my coffee or tea instead of milk. Fewer carbs, more fat.

Let us know how this works out for you.

Yes, heavy cream in your coffee really helps. Dr. Atkins says the fat is what satisfies you so you are not hungry. I eat bacon with my eggs (not every day) and I am barely hungry by supper time.

In between meals I snack on peanuts and lately the Hot/N/Spicy Pork Rinds with a lot of water. Keeps me full during the day. Keep up the great work Tracy, it does get easier and it will seem so simple after awhile.

YES! i'm sure i've seen pork rinds here!!

meanwhile, had a better day today...i had eggs with haloumi again, but added some feta too (oh, YUM). then i had some green pepper stuffed with lots of cream cheese, and a giant stalk of celery with salmon and MW (which doesn't have HFCS in this country . i also thought of how to have my atkins shake - with 2 tbsps heavy cream, and some hot water.....not sure if the shakes are good to have at the moment, but they do say 3 grams per serving, so that made around 4 with the cream, and a nice chocolately proteiny-fatty boost to my afternoon

i knew i was forgetting something - after bodypump this morning i had a few slices of roast beef, which really took the edge off! also in the afternoon i had some chicken breast
for dinner i'm having some cream of broccoli and tomato soup (5 grams worth), salad, and roast chicken.

and that will take me to 20 grams!

i hope that looks better? tomorrow i'm making a really fatty spinach dip to have with my veggies...

thanks again guys - very nice to get encouragement and help....oh, and i've lost 6 pounds.......

Congrats on the weight loss!

I'm still new at this but have found that the fats help keep me much more satisfied than just protein. And a good combo of the two is even better. A hardboiled egg dipped in real mayo .. yummo!

They are indeed yummy and I need to boil up some more eggs myself. Such a great, quick snack to grab when you gotta have something now!

hey thanks everyone for getting me past a hard spot! i made some spinach dip (recipe on about.com in the low-carb area , and have been having that with celery (it's full of mayo and sour cream so nice and fatty!), and also cream cheese on toasted flax "bread" - which is very good too!

so thanks, adding more fat and protein - more food, really, and feeling much better!

tracy

oh, and thanks for the congrats, too!
