Default My first doctor visit since LC

Today I had my yearly exam. I have to admit, I was a little nervous to tell my doctor that I was now a low carber. I could feel a lecture coming on. But, surprise, she was a lot more happy that I lost some weight than she was worried about how I lost it. She basically said, "You go girl!" She suggested I keep on going until I reach my goal weight and then see about making a slight shift away from high fat products. Now, this is all dependent on how my blood work comes out. If it's better than last year, then I'm good. If it looks worse, then I'll be moving on from low carb. If my experience is like most others, my cholestrol will improve. I'll report those numbers when I get them.

As I've always known, I have a cool doctor. She actually gave me a hug when I left and said I had inspired her to get going on her weight. So I guess ALL doctors aren't anti-low carb.

My doctor didn't bat an eyelid when I told him I was doing the Atkins. I too expected to get a warning but it was not forthcoming.

Great! I remember when i had my first physical after low carbing for a few years I was worried what my Doctor would say. He was definitely not a low carb advocate but he couldn't argue with an 18 point reduction in total cholesterol and an almost doubling of good cholesterol (hdl). Yes! Please let us know the results of your bloodwork!
