| 1) I've noticed a decrease in my appetite lately. Is this normal? 2) Because of the decrease, I'm not eating as much and am starting to feel shaky. Is this normal? Should I try to eat more? (I kind of have to force myself now! I can't believe that I can "forget" to eat!) Thanks for your (low carb) feedback! |

Of course, if you still have the shakes after eating a good protein snack, then you should see your physician as you may have another issue that needs attention. good luck! s

| I do have hypoglycemia. But I'm thinking I'm just not consuming enough calories. I haven't stopped to count them, but here is an example of what I'll eat on a given day: Breakfast: Usually 2 eggs and bacon or a cheese & low carb veggie omelet. I may have some cottage cheese on the side (about 1/2 cup), but not always. I usually don't have time for lunch because I work evenings. About 5/6pm I'll have my "reward" dinner which is usually chicken, salmon or pork chops, veggie, and some brown rice with a side salad with olive oil. I'll have an apple, strawberries or some other kind of fruit with this meal. Snacks are usually some sliced turky roll-ups with cheese or peanut butter with celery sticks or some almonds. I don't always have the snack because lately I just don't feel like it. |

| Crz, It sounds like maybe you are going to long without food between breakfast and your RM. (unless your breakfast is closer to noon?). Are you only eating 2 meals per day? I would really encourage you to time your snacks so you are not going over 3-4 hours without a little protein or other LC snack, even if you are *not that hungry*. This helps keep your metabolism in balance and avoids those hypoglycemic slumps, yanno? If you are interested in tracking your calories/carbs to see your daily intake, Fitday.com is a good tool and it's free. hth s

| I usually have breakfast around 10am...so now that I am taking a good look at this, it's a full 7 hours before I'm eating again! That is not good for my hypoglycemia and I really should know better! ![]() Starting tomorrow, I'm going to make an effort to have some sort of protein snack before I hit the road to go to work and see if that doesn't help. I'll also use my Outlook calendar at work to remind me to eat something at around 3pm so I'm not letting my blood sugar drop too much. I was so thrilled not to have those constant hunger pangs that I didn't realize I may be hurting myself--not to mention putting my body in starvation mode too which will stop the weight from dropping off. So many lessons to learn! (But, that's why I'm here at this site!) |
