Default I forgot how much I enjoyed...

I've been back to the LC lifestyle for almost a week now and there are some things I am enjoying that I had forgotten how much I liked them. Things such as...

Tri Tip Roast with the fat on it
Olive oil drizzled on my salad
butter on my OMM
mock danish
roasted chicken thighs with the skin on

those are just a few

Vickie, I recommitted to low carb eating again yesterday. I picked up a huge package of chicken thighs at Sam's. I just love 'em too. While its warm enough I'll do them on the BBQ, but roasted in the oven with brussels sprouts and bacon is a favorite cool weather meal!

This food is so good...why did I stray??

The million-dollar question! When I'm on plan, I absolutely can't imagine any other way of eating. Until I go off. What am I thinking during those excursions??

Now I've got 15 lbs. to deal with--and that's a lot, as slowly as it goes. Still, I did manage to stop before I was hopelessly headed to my all-time top. Maintaining is so easy compared to losing--except for the everyday attitude adjustment.

Excuse me while I go marinate a flank steak.

Barb,

Marinated flank steak? What time do we eat??

For me, I think the issue is that I get bored, eating the same few (albiet delicious) foods. I need to keep adding new things to my menus. I love to cook and eat and entertain. No reason I can't become a "Low Carb Foodie", right?

Ha! I also wonder, once I get back on plan, why I ever strayed in the first place. I agree, it's the million dollar question.

Monday will mark two weeks solidly back on plan for me. As of yesterday I have lost 7 pounds. I am eating basically whatever I want. I am having wonderful. healthy meals of good, natural foods. I do allow myself to indulge in some diet soda but I am avoiding all the low carb, processed "treats" ...in my mind those simply feed the addiction to *crap* foods.

Gone is the abdominal bloat, lethargy, and self loathing that comes with being completely out of control. I don't know if it works this way for others, but I find that when my eating is out of control, it tends to be a symptom of other areas in my life being out of control as well.

Yeah...I forgot how much I enjoyed this feeling of being set free from being a slave to my addictions

I know for myself if I have a little "off plan indulgence" I pay the price with heartburn and plain old feeling YUCK! So this lifestyle is IT for me forever! And the key is finding fun and exciting new recipes. Or taking old ones and making my own LC version of it. It's actually kind of fun to Lowcarbicize a recipe. LOLOLOL It's a word, really, believe me, it's really a word. LOLOLOL

I know exactly what you mean! I always feel horrible for a few days after I have eaten those dreaded carbs. I mean why can't I say no? If someone offers me a drink or poison I can say no. Why not those high carb foods?

My biggest problem of straying is when I have to eat somewhere else. Many times I plan on getting home for our meal and we get held up and then out comes the food or we are talked into going somewhere and the food is not low carb friendly. My husband and I have made a pact to say no to all meals out.....whether in a restaurant or at someone's home.
