| I tortured myself for many years with endless yo-yo diets before I turned to LC through Atkins. Now that I’m fairly well-read in the science and studies on obesity (including, recently, Gary Taubes’s Good Calories, Bad Calories), I not only believe in the existence of metabolic syndrome, I believe that I am one of many, many people with a problem that isn’t all my “fault.” Today is my birthday. I’m 63 years old. Pass for 50 (maybe ). Feel 23. I’m actually grateful for my weight management issue, because I now believe that my present solution (LC) has implications for many other things I don’t have yet: heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and…wrinkles! Dope Slap Me for occasionally forgetting this. I’m going to put a sign on my mirror: READ CHAPTER 13 (that would be Taubes) There are certainly other and more truths to explore in the universe of human physiology. However, I’m happy to take action on what I now know about myself that brings me benefits every day. So…stick those 63 candles in a slab of prime rib, please. And happy many more birthdays to me. |

| Thanks, Goddess. So far, so good. My dad is alive and pretty well at 93, so I've got some good genes. We've got a family joke: "Nobody dies of anything!" By the way, in case I didn't mention it before, that's a cool picture of you. Wow! You got some good bone structure going on there, galfriend! Good to be able to see it, eh? |
