![]() I've been on Weight Watchers for the last year and have enjoyed it and done well. Then the holiday's came along and EEK!!! I've hit a nasty plateau and THANKFULLY my doctor has ok'd me to try low carbing to jumb start my weight loss. I'll be doing strict Atkins induction for the first 2 weeks. (I've read the book, searched the site and lurked here for a while) After induction my doctor will do blood tests and together (through trial and error) we'll determine how many carbs I can add back in. The plan, at present, is to get me back to losing, drop what I've gained over the holidays and then slowly add in whole grains, with a firm eye towards portion control! I did 'Atkins light' the last few days to prep myself and have spent today cooking up a storm and making a menu plan for the week. Though as stated, I've been happy over all with Weight Watchers, I have to share with you what a REAL treat it has been today, my first 100% day, to have things like bacon, Ceasar salad and we're grilling up rib eye steaks for dinner as I type. OH, interesting thing, even though I haven't been full on LC these last few days gearing up for today . . . I've already LOST 2 pounds!!!! Thanks for letting me ramble, I look forward to getting to know you all. Tara |

| Hi Tara, Welcome to LCE. It sounds like you've got your plan in place, and you've done your homework, and even better, you have *the book*. I'm betting you will be rewarded on your LC journey with weight loss and good health. And, that's a good thing! Post often and let us know how you are doing, and again, welcome to LCE! s

| Welcome, Tara! You're doing your plan the right way. It's called a plan because we have to plan ahead, and you're doing that. Congratulations on getting a right start on your low carb journey. Great going on those first 2 lbs!

| Hello Tara. I'm delighted to hear you're working with your doc and have done your homework. As Shelley mentioned, that gives you a real leg up on success! Much easier to "work your plan" when you've got one, as Nita pointed out. Have fun feeling "decadent" with your LC.

| Thanks, Tara. People seem to either love it or hate it. I like it, though.

| Hey Tara, welcome aboard. Reading, planning and cooking ahead will really help you in the long run. I've found that I do a lot better by cooking on the weekend for the week ahead. When I come home from work, I want something "now" and sometimes that can get me into trouble. Congratulations on the two pounds down! |

| Thank you everyone! Day 3, 4 pounds gone . . . gotta love it!!!! Kummus, I totally agree. If there isn't food ready, or easy to fix, I turn into a complete 'FEED ME' monster! Thank you Lisa, it's actually old Irish for Tower of Strength . . . but you can imagine the Gone with the Wind jokes I get! |

Way to go! That's a great start, and I'm betting your feeling good by now, too. Have you gotten that "energy surge" yet? Usually that hits around day four or so and makes you wonder why you didn't start it all sooner, along with the decreased appetite.I can totally related to the name jokes. My name is Dixie. I HATED Dixie Cups when I was a kid for that very reason. Or if it wasn't that, it was the Kansas jokes. Believe it or not, not everyone from Kansas finds random Toto references hilarious.

| Actually, it just this afternoon that I got the engery surge. I had had a headache this morning (and should I mention my breath has become just charming???) o.0 I really did myself in with the holidays. Don't get me wrong, I throughly enjoyed them, but WOW do I feel far more alert today then I have in ages!! Oh dear, name AND where you live jokes??? I'm in Los Angeles, and I really wasn't joking about avoiding the mess the celebs make of our streets. It's an odd place to live, but never dull! |

| So, Tara, how often do you have people call you Terry? We have a Kara in our office, and everyone calls her Karen or Kari, but never Kara. We live in a little town called Brady, and I get really sick of people referring to us as the Brady Bunch. It gets old real quick!
