Default New to Low Carb Eating

    Hi Everyone,
I was really inspired after reading Dixie's Transformation. I had my annualy physical on March 13 and discovered my triglycerides were 1,469 (they should be less than 150). My doctor suggested I eat low carb for 3 months and return for additional bloodwork. I sorta knew what low carb eating was about b/c I had tried Atkins and South Beach in the past. I shopped that evening and started the next day. I have only lost 3 lbs in the past 3 weeks but I feel SO much better and my slacks are fitting better. I joined Snap Fitness and work out at least 3 times a week. I don't think so much about the weight as I do my health in general. My Mother had a stroke when she was 4 years younger than I am now and both my olders sisters had strokes younger than I am now. I want to life a long, healthy and productive life. I've been overweight most of my life but just lately (past 2-3 years) have had unhealthy numbers from bloodwork that keep getting worse. I want and need to do something about it now.

I'm so glad I discovered this web site; I know it will be a good source of inspiration, education and help for me. Thank you for letting me discover you!!

Awww, thank you, Miki! I appreciate your kind words, both about my personal story and the site.

And I always love to hear that docs are recommending low carb.

Good for you for focusing on the whole picture and not just the scale, too. That suggests you're taking a long-term view, and tells me you're setting yourself up for success.

Looking forward to getting to know you...

    Welcome, Miki.

I hope you'll look carefully at the Atkins Nutritional Approach as your low carb plan of choice, since it is well documented to make dramatic reductions in triglycerides.

    Nice to have you here.
