| I've had a couple of years of being overweight due to a thyroid condition, general laziness and overeating!! Too many carbs turns me into a fat, sickly blob .....And, basically, I'm so sick of feeling that way! Many years ago and after the birth of each child (I have 4) I would do Atkins and always lost the weight. The weight was maintained eating lower carb until a couple of years ago..... I have tried the New Atkins Diet Revolution to less than stellar results....I prefer the original! So, after much stalling and avoidance I am finally on my way back to the real me and I was wondering if anyone would like to join me on the original plan......I had loaned my book out (it was never returned) and am waiting on the arrival of a new one... In the meantime I'm practicing the original from memory.....My ketostix are dark...Hopefully I'll see a weight loss! Hope to talk to you soon! ![]() JennyBear |

| Nitro, I've not seen any place on the web that covers the original Atkins diet. You can still find the book from places such as Amazon. Basically, you eat essentially zero carb for the first week, having meat, fish, chicken, eggs, and some hard cheeses, and 2 small salads a day. Each week you add 5 grams of carbs to your day, perhaps veggies, or cottage cheese. Keep adding 5 grams of carbs per week until you stop losing, then cut back to the lower level. You do not deduct fiber or sugar alcohol for net carbs. You just count all carbs. It's a much simpler approach, and many people had success with it when it first came out in the early 1970s. In fact, the first time I did low carb was with the original plan, and I lost 80 lbs. Of course, I was a lot younger then, too!
