Default Back on Atkins after 2 years off

Hello.

I'm back on a low carb eating plan after a 2 year hiatus. Prior to that, I lost 35 pounds & kept it off nearly 3 years. A new job with long hours & making friends with the vending machine did me in. I'm currently at an all-time weight high, but looking for some on-line friends to help keep me focused and on track.

I'm on week 2 with only a 2 pound loss during Atkins Induction Phase. I was a bit disappointed (last time I was down 9 pounds by this time), but then my monthly visitor came a bit early & it all made sense! Wish me luck ... I'll creep back here & see what advice is out and about.

Welcome, wildfamily. Since you've done Atkins before, you know the drill.

Don't be disappointed with a 2 lbs loss. I just read in DANDR that you really don't want to lose more than a lb a week. And the first few lbs are usually water weight. Oh, and you're a few years older, that makes things go slower, too.

Wow, you kept 35 lbs off for 3 years, what an accomplishment. You did it then, you can get back to that goal again.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm not going to be discouraged. I did this once & I will do it again.

(Though the comment about the age, made me pause. I really hate getting old & feeling/seeing the effects It's really not fair!)

Glad to see there is an active community out here. It really helps to have people who understand the daily battles & temptations.

I hate getting older, too. And it's not impossible to lose weight as we age, it's just a bit harder, that's all. It doesn't "fall off" like it did when we were younger. Ah, to have the metabolism of youth, and the wisdom of age!

Welcome, Anne. (I moved this to the intros forums, so others get a chance to welcome you...)

It's not unusual to lose a little less on Induction the second time around, and of course, having done LC, you know there are lots of things that can impact it.

Glad to have you with us!

Thanks for the welcome. I guess I wasn't quite prepared for how slow Induction would be the second time around. I'm still stuck at 2 pounds (of which includes being in the middle of my monthly cycle). I was really hoping for somewhere around 5 to 6 pounds by now.

Oh well, it came off before & it will again. I'll stick to the tried and true.

ANNE,

Weight loss is not a race, it is a journey. You lost the weight once, you can do it again. Good luck on your journey.
