Flower Just starting out

Hi there...My name is Liz, 21 from New Jersey. I'm a college student and I manage a tanning salon. I'm always very busy, and eat whenever I can. But now I have realized that my eating habits have helped me but on some extra pounds. I'm looking to lose some weight before I go on vacation in August. School gets out in about 2 weeks, so I have told myself that I will be going to the gym as much as possible. I am determined. I want to look better and feel better about myself, because I know if I don't lose the weight I will have a terrible time.

SO I can use all the motivation, support, and advice I can get...hope some of you can help me out.

Thanks
LIZ

Hi, Liz. Welcome to LCE!

Based on what I've seen hanging around here the last few years, the people that are most successful are usually the ones that pick a specific low carb plan to start. So I'd suggest you check out some of the plans and see what appeals to you. Atkins is very popular here, as is Protien Power and we have a few SouthBeachers, among others. Later on, people often tweak plans as they find out what works for them personally, but right off the bat, that plan helps get you started on the right foot.

It's also fun to have something to look forward to and help motivate you, like a vacation. But I do hope that you plan on continuing your healthier habits well past vacation time, since that's what will keep the weight off, after all, and would suggest to anybody not to get fixated on how fast it's coming off. That's a big source of people getting sidetracked and it's just not predictable...bodies are funny things sometimes.

Glad to have you with us!

Welcome, Liz.

Just reinforcing what Dixie (Goddess) already brought out, you'll have more success choosing a plan, and sticking with it.

We're here to give you whatever help we can, and lots of encouragement.
