Welcome, Debie.

One place you might want to check is the help section. There are links to many different pages and articles that I think you'll find contain both information and inspiration.

welcome, Debbie. If you're in week 2 of induction, you should be in the "it just gets easier from here" part. The first week is the toughest.

I'm sure you'll get lots of tips and ideas from the forums and articles here, so just poke around.

Glad to have you with us.

ginger-if you're on day 4, you should be close to the end of what we sometimes call "the induction flu," which is from your body clearing out all that sugar and such.

i'd suggest making sure you're taking vitimins, getting plenty of rest and fluids, and perhaps a painkiller for the headache. and know that within a day or so, you should feeling even better than normal, with the famous LC surge of energy and reduced appetite once the process of ketosis kicks in fully.

hang in there! the good stuff is coming...

That is a great name the flu....I hope that it is almost done.. I am such a baby due to the fact that I don't get many headaces I think that I am really suffering today,, I tried the pain killer but didn't touch it...I didn't bring much to eat today either which might be adding to it also.. Tomorrow I will bring. I see in your signature that you have been LC since 2003, what has been your success with the plan and also not getting to bored with the eating habits that we must stick to? I am still very new to the site and just trying to figure out what all it offers, thus not sure where to look for stories....
Thanks

Hey, Ginger. Your headache is most likely due to your following induction strictly - which includes no caffeine. Caffeine is one of the (few) truly physically addictive drugs. If you've done this, take heart, your exploding head is about to disappear. Many of us have cut back on, but have not totally eliminated, caffeine. I never stopped drinking coffee. I just cut back from several cups a day to one or two. But even my substitute - tea - has some caffeine. My results were still very good.

Maggie:
Thanks for the idea, however it isn't the caffiene-- I have bleeding ulcers so I haven't had caffiene in three years...... it was horrible to quit it but when I finally got it out of the system I said never again, I was a 6 pack of diet pop a day gal.. now I have one diet caff. free diet pepsi a day.... it is better today however, loaded up on the tylenol last night and made sure and ate a good supper, woke up without one today... whoohoo.. and down another 1 1/2 pound--making the total on day 4 at a
8 pound loss.. this is crazy... I can't believe it... I had to get on the scale and get off and then get on again.. I told myself I can get weighted every morning until I don't lose once then I have to go to once a week.... I am a scale freak.... because I use to think that every ounce was a big deal.... now it is a 1/2 or 1 or 2 everyday so far... I will take it!!!!!

most of the articles are here - Low Carb Help | LowCarbEating

one of my favorite categories is the success stories: great for encouragement!

i started Atkins and still eat primiarly Atkins-centric, but not strictly Atkins. At this point, it's just how I eat, you know? Even when I'm not actively trying to lose--which I set aside at stressful times, etc.--I always consider myself a low carber and always make primarily low carb choices. As far as boredom goes, you learn how to work within what works for your body. Early on, getting a few LC cookbooks helped a lot, not just for recipes, but for ideas about how to LC the stuff I already liked. You learn the tricks of the trade, you know? Hanging out in a community like this will go a long way towards learning how to integrate LC into your lifestyle.

Glad to hear you're feeling better!
