Default Thanks

You gals are great.. what a nice way to start this journey than with so many new friends... thanks for all the encouragment... we have 2 months till our next set of Exchange students arrive and I really want to get set in my ways before the kids show up, they are always so excited about American food that we tend to enjoy it right along with them.. want to have a system in play to help me stick to the LC way even with the kids here.. Thanks again for all the pats on the backs and the happy hellos..

whoohoo.. and down another 1 1/2 pound--making the total on day 4 at a
8 pound loss.. this is crazy... I can't believe it... I had to get on the scale and get off and then get on again.. I told myself I can get weighted every morning until I don't lose once then I have to go to once a week.... I am a scale freak.... because I use to think that every ounce was a big deal.... now it is a 1/2 or 1 or 2 everyday so far... I will take it!!!!!

Yep know that new diet thing but I have never ever had results like this even with new ones.... I will keep getting on till the day (probably tomorrow when I don't lose anything for one day) Then it is back to once a week... to keep the spirits up ya know.... I order some cook books today online from Barnes and Nobles and also that Protein Power book that you all are talking about, gotta read to make sure that I am doing this right..... Hope you all are having a great day!!!

well, low carbing specifically gives you more dramatic results early on, and they tend to be the most dramatic for those who have never lc'ed before. with any "dieting" stuff, the first week you lose some water weight, and that's true of LC also, but the first couple of weeks on a LC diet for many tend to be more remarkable in terms of the speed of initial losses.

just don't do what i did right out: try to figure out how long to my goal weight losing at the same rate!

ahem. i've become a little more zen since then. snort!

I have done LC before but that was when it first was a big deal, and I do think that if you have a lot of "fat" to lose you do much better, I have more "fat" to lose this time than I have had in over 18 years.....so I am sure that is why it started out with a bang.. I am very glad just the same.. I have never lost 5 pounds in a week, let alone 8 in 4 days... WHOOHOOO.... sorry have to toot my own horn... it is the little things... how long have you be LC;ing it? and how much have you lost total??

well, it's great to hear it's going smoothly for you, even though you've done lc before.

i have been lc since nov 03, and have lost 100 pounds. (was a little more, but i've gone up and down a bit.) i still have some to go, but have been able to maintain the 100 pound loss consistently throughout, which i am incredibly thankful for, let me tell you.

I have to keep reminding myself Goddess that I can't get back to that # I was in highschool. Having a little "cushion" is much better then the walking heart attack we once were right?

Ginger, you are doing so great!! I know that those who have lost a lot of weight did one thing....they kept going!! Holidays come, bad days when you may turn to food but no matter what be a fighter. I can tell from your reading that you are so positive which is a dieters fiercest weapon. Let the battle begin!

Godess-WOW that is wonderful good for you... to be so positive and helping all of us with this after you have taken off 100 pounds is wonderful, you should really pat yourself on your back for me...
I had lost about 125 pounds about 21 years ago and kept it off until about 3 years ago when I was forced into menopause due to hystor. when they take it all you body doesn't care what your age is..lol... Then for the past 3 years it has been 10 here, 2 there, 8 for this holiday and 12 for that one... and I just couldn't get it off, no matter what, and I always say that if I could just get it started... then 'I could do it... nada.. nothing.. until this week.. now I have to stick to the other plan of if only I could get started.. then I could...oh I forgot in all I have gained over the past three years--42 pounds,, when I am at 178 I feel that is the perfect weight for me, everyone wants to weigh 125 or 145, but I have never been one of those peeps. I wear a size 7-8 at that weight and that is perfect for me.. I want to make sure that I can maintain the loss that I get also for a life time.. but who knows when I get these this time, I am much older this time... maybe I will need to go lower in order to be the same size as before.. WOW am I windy or what tonight...lol.. my hubby works nights sorry I get blabby when we don't have any exchange students living with us....lol....
BabyBlueJay--thanks for stopping by I am glad to meet you and thanks for the compliment.... you are doing GREAT!!!!!

heather, i'm actually lower than i was through most of high school. i had a brief stint of high school "skinny" when i stopped eating anything but salad and tab (YUCK-tab!) and worked out like a hyperactive maniac. when i stopped it all, as all dieters do...well, you all know the story!

thanks for the kind words, Ginger. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to contribute to the greater good through maintaining this site, and see it as the perferct way to help share all the help that I got along the way. share the love, right?

and keep right on chatting! that's how we get to know one another. in your story, i saw an excellent reminder that "a few here and a few there" do add up!

and you'll find lots of chatty folks here. if you enjoy that sort of thing, you might want to start a journal or do some blogging. it's a good way to make new pals here.

Ginger, menopause slows your losses, regardless of whether it's natural or due to surgery. However, doing low carb improves your health tremendously, regardless of whether or not you lose any weight. You just plain feel better most of the time, not tired and drained, cranky and irritable, or just worn out all the time. You're able to function every day much better than when you were eating lots of carbs.

I lost 50 lbs quickly, the next 25 very slowly, and now I'm at a long, long stall, with a lot more to lose, but I'm sticking with low carb, hoping to continue to lose, but also enjoying feeling so much better in the long run. I wouldn't go back to my old way of eating (except for the occasional oops day) for anything.
