Today I am starting on this plan to make it to the end of my journey. I have battled my weight my whole life, many years ago I lost several pounds doing the Atkins plan and have decided that it is time to again try it. Hoping to talk my hubby into it also. Today I will go to the grocery store and pick up only the things that we need to make a go of this, then it will be home to clean out all the "bad" and make it so that our first two weeks are a success.. I can't wait to chat with everyone and gain knowledge on the right and wrong things to do as it has been many years since my last attend at this... Hope everyone has a great weekend...

Hi Ginger,
Welcome to LCE
If it's been a while since you followed the Atkins plan, you might want to consider also getting the book, DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution). While the *basics* are still pretty much the same, many of us have found it really worth while to have *the book* to help us along the way. I still refer to my copy of DANDR quite often, and I've been LCing for several years.

In with the healthy (food) and out with the *junk* is a very good place to start! Good for you!!!

Wishing you and your hubby much success on your journey of healthy eating and weight loss.

Post often and let us know how it's going!

Welcome, Ginger! You'll find a lot of us here had to learn the hard way that low-carb really is meant to be the journey we stay on. I'm back after a long hiatus myself, also following Atkins. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Ginger!! I just tried to call my friend Ginger from Montana just two minutes ago. I think the name Ginger is so cute! I guess she was named after a lady her mom thought was a fantastic soap star.

Glad to have you here!

Howdy, Ginger! Sounds like you're getting started off on the right foot.

I'd echo Shelley's suggestion to grab yourself a copy of DANDR someplace. It helps for reference, especially if it's been a while. And good luck getting hubby to join. If he does, it certainly helps, but even if he's reluctant at first, he may become more interested as he sees how well you're eating!

Glad to have you with us.

Wow Thank you guys.. what a nice welcome... it was great to pop back on here and have so many welcomes.. you are all to kind. to answer a couple questions
Ginger is a name that our kids gave me after a late night car ride talking about Ginger on the three hour tour.... and skipper to... long story but after 15 years my kids still call me Ginger, and all of our exchange students think it sticks to. So Ginger it is.
I printed out a list of the foods that we could eat the first two weeks and hoping that I can stick to it, I had a hamburger with mayo on it forsupper. It was ok, and I didn't want to wait until Monday like most diet plans only work when you wait until Monday to start lol.......
I am not really a big meat eater but this time I am going to give it 150% effort.. this time I have to make it work.... I am not happy in my own skin and that is not a good thing is it....lol..
Here's to the new me... Hope to see a loss of like 15 pounds by morning.... ok that was a joke... enjoy your weekend everyone..
Ginger

Ginger- Check out the cooking forum and the "What's for Dinner" thread for lots of ideas on food, too. Too many bunless burgers will make you scream, and variety is the key to keeping on track for sure. I'll leave the bloodwork and cloning details in Kat's capable hands if you manage your first "goal" ...

Hi Ginger,

I too am back to Low Carb after a couple of years. I noticed my last restart was 6/06...didnt realize how much time went by. I will enjoy following your success as we begin this lifestyle afresh.

What a fantastic start! And I'm pleased your dh has decided to go along with you. Mine does, and it's so much easier to stick to the plan in the long run.
