| what the heck? I am really not happy at my current weight of 160 pounds on my almost five foot six height. I was happy in my 120's, which hasn't happened in six years. I am suprised I am not alot bigger than I am. I am a total carb junky. Sometimes I feel like I am losing hope that I will ever be in shape again because I really get depressed and agitated if I don't get to eat whatever I want. But then I am just miserable because I failed and seeing all the back fat in the mirror and my thighs rubbing together. sigh. GO ME!!!!!!!!! |

| Howdy, Erika! Glad to have you with us. Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time, although honestly, that IS what brought a lot of us here to begin with. You mention it's day one - what plan are you doing? Have you LC'ed before? If you haven't, be aware the first week is almost always the toughest. Getting the carbs out of your system to start with and letting your body adjust to your new way of eating can be a challenge at first, and it's common for people to feel tired, listless, and yucky. We sometimes call it the Induction Flu. This phase often lasts 3-5 days or so, depending on the individual and what you've been eating before. However, once you're through that, then usually ketosis kicks in for many, and your body burns differently. That's when the famous energy surges start, the appetite disappeares and you feel better than you have in years. Or at least, that was certainly my experience and I've heard others echo it. You'll also find those cravings disappear as long as you stay on track and even discover that your tastes often change and the stuff you used to live has NO appeal. Now, it's that worth riding out the first week? Read the stuff around here, and visit with folks, and that should help a lot. Get educated on your plan and what to expect, so the initial discomfort won't throw you, and once you're in for a few days, you'll most likely find it easier than you ever thought. Also, do check out LC recipes to get ideas for subs for your old favorites. Just because you're going LC doesn't mean you don't like to eat! And if you can find acceptable ways to make the foods you enjoy, you stand a much greater chance of success. We're rooting for ya!
