| Under recommendation from my naturopath... i'm starting LCE. I have 10 kilos to lose, and it's been almost a year and they still aren't coming off, so i have to try something a bit drastic to kick my body in to fat burning mode. I'm currently in week two - and found week one quite diffucult. I had to do 20 grams a day, and it was hard hard hard. I was spot on for the first week, but then the fri sat and sun i didn't do very well at 40 grams... which i'm very disappointed with. I lost 0.5 kilo in a week, which isn't bad, but the naturo said most ppl would lose about 2 kilos in the first week :( I'm feeling pretty hungry most of the time, which i know i shouldn't, and i'm struggling with the heavier diet. I'm used to eating a lot of fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains and the adjustment is really hard. But i'll stick at it and hopefully things improve. I have been exploring this website all day and it has some fantastic information and great articles... can't wait to sink my teeth in to more of it Cheers Erin xx |

| Welcome, Erin. My observations, over many years, are not the same as your naturopath's. Weight loss is a very individual thing, often going in "fits and starts" - rarely in a straight line. I hope you've picked a program and have gotten the book which goes with it. Knowing the underlying principles and having a "road map" are very important. Hope you'll make yourself at home here.

| Welcome, Erin. Pick your plan, read the book! If you're hungry, perhaps you need to up your protein and/or fat intake. Often just a little fat makes a big difference.

| glad to have you with us, erin. are you on a particular plan? because most established LC plans, you should NEVER be hungry since you eat until you're not hungry. you find people will very strongly encourage you to pick a plan and get the book since so many rely on other's people's perceptions of LC, often at the cost of their own success. early on, you'll be avoiding fruits because of the natural sugars, but as you've been doing it a while, you can add that back, and protien and veggies are going to be the mainstaiys of almost any LC eating plan. and most any plan will also allow you to subract fiber from the carbs in order to get the "effective carb count," i.e. what actually impacts your blood sugar. this allows you to have a lot more veggies than you would otherwise. i have to agree with maggie over your naturopath's as well - how much someone loses and at what pace is HIGHLY individual from what i've seen. LC is attractive to many because it does often include a quicker start in terms of losses than many other plans, but that is hardly a universal or predictable experience. even the same person can LC two different times and have different rates of loss. i'm not sure what you mean by "heavier" diet, either...are you saying you didn't eat much meat before? although LC can be done vegetarian, it's a lot harder, but you can certainly up your veggie intake overall, especially if it's what you're accustomed to and like. the fruits, eventually, and the grains, more eventually and in limited quantities most likely. but with the exception of sugar and usually white flour, what people eat LC is not vastly different that what people eat when they are not LC. sometimes it does take a while to find your zen, however, so do be patient and pay attention to how you're feeling overall. normally, the first week is rough for many as your body adjusts, but most report feeling lots more energy and much better going into the second week. if you don't experience this, you may want to review what you're actually eating and see if there is an issue there. at any rate, glad to have you with us! wishing you much success in finding the right path for YOU.
