| I've been cooking from scratch for my family for the past couple of years and got everyone off sodas, processed food and read labels for HFCS and hydrogenated oils. So the eating has been generally healthy. I just can't handle the carbs that would normally be part of our diet - potato, milk (for me), brown rice, grain pastas, bread, etc. unless I take insulin. Anyone have experience with this or know what generally one could expect? Thanks! MaryLee |

| My own experience was that my weight normalized over a period of two years. Since then, just continuing my way of eating, I stay in a range (+ or - a few pounds) without too much difficulty.

| I did continue to lose past what I'd assumed would be a reasonable goal weight, much to my surprise. As Maggie stated above, though, it tends to even out. One need not add back unhealthy carbs to slow weight loss, if that should become (an enviable However, it's unlikely that all your fat will be gone unless you are in a sustained period of starvation--unlikely with any healthy diet. Take it from me, there may be some pesky places where some amount of padding remains in spite of what we'd wish Genetics is often the determining factor.

| Well... it didn't take that much time for my weight to stand still... I've been at the same weight now for a week. I got scared when that first ten pounds just came off so quickly ... dropping a pound or half pound almost every day. I've always drank a lot of water and really didn't feel that I carried much "water weight" because although I was eating "healthy" it included too many carbs for my metabolism. I am constantly reminding myself that the weight loss is an added perk ... my real goal is to keep my blood sugar normal without meds. I now find myself having to stay away from the scale. I never weighed myself before and only knew how much i weighed when I had to go to a doctor for some reason. My husband wanted a scale so we have a nice electronic one and since i've been LCE I have become a little addicted to it. Trying to keep it to once in the morning as weighing myself three or four times a day can be counter productive. |

| if you find the daily flux is stressful, you can also move to weighins once a week. the big thing is that however often you weigh, you have to make sure it's more helpful than not. the quick losses the first week or two are very common, as are pauses afterwards, sometimes for weeks. people with BS issues often also report that losses are slow and not predictable as well. so what you're reporting is totally normal from my perspective, but i know that's only a small reassurance once you get emotionally shackled to the scale. just be aware, ok? the scale reading is only one, rather insignificant measure of overall success, and one that you weren't even particularly looking for at that. don't let that contraption rule your mood, man. peace out.

| Thanks for the encouragement. I now know why my mom was a scale addict. I remind myself of her so much especially since she's gone. She used to weigh before and after every meal and she was never a "large" woman. I got something better than a good scale reading this morning. My husband has been really supportive of my blood sugar control and proud of me keeping it normal. This morning he commented on how trim I looked and he hadn't really noticed the loss before. Just a little positive reenforcement on the weight thing helped me a lot today. He's said he loves the way I look since the day we met but I'm excited about getting really fit and trim now. |
