dog All About Me

I know - it's a catchy title! There really isn't all that much to know about me. I am 50ish, have two grown kids (19 and 24) and am married. I have been trying to lose weight my whole life. I finally had enough of being tired and in pain all the time and my new Dr., who is very young and hip, asked me to try a Low Carb diet. I could not believe a Dr. would ask me to do something so unhealthy! It's like the priest telling you to go out and sin! She had a good chuckle over my outrage and told me to call her after I read Protein Power. After I got over being appalled I read the book and have been doing Low Carb ever since. It was the first thing I have read in the nutrition field that made any sense to me. I have lost about 53 pounds and feel better than I can ever remember feeling. I'm trying for about 30 more pounds. It has been a blast learning a whole new way to cook and eat. My husband has since joined me figuring his days of mashed potatoes were over anyway!

I work in a public school coordinating all the various tests we give children these days. There are many! I ride the cutest little scooter to work. My off time is spent with my husband and my 6 pound pomeranian, Kali.

Birdie. on your 53 pound loss. Your statement, "It has been a blast learning a whole new way to cook and eat.", is so true for me. I found myself re-energized learning new cooking techniques as well as trying new foods. Who would have thought of all the things you can do with cauliflower if it were not for l/c? I am really amazed at how I don't miss the old high carb stuff that I used to eat. Once again, welcome.

Welcome Brinella, You've had great success so far, congats to you, keep up the good work and you will certainly reach your goal. Wish I had a doctor like yours. Mine was really upset when I mentioned LC, but I did it anyway, when I came back with a big loss and my blood work came back good she was surprised.

Good Luck, and much success.

Default Hibernation Over

Here in Portland we were hit with a snowstorm the week before Christmas. I am talking "snowed in" with 3-4 foot drifts all around us! My husband finally dug a trench from our back garage door (the only door that opened in) around to the front of our house so we could see what was going on in the outside world. I work for a school so I got an extra week off for our Winter break. Even though it started snowing last night and I got my hopes up for one more day I have returned to the world of the living and working. I feel like I have been a hibernating bear with all the eating, sleeping and inactivity for the past 3 weeks. I stuck extremely close to my LC diet in spite of the snow and the holidays. However, I did manage to gain 2 pounds. I am hoping getting back to a regular routine will help me shed those quickly. I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year with lots of LC success!
