| I must say that I never had a good opinion of LC diets as my first husband used to go on the meat and water diet and he seemed so unhealthy. He lost the weight.......over and over and still losing it. Can't be good for his body to do that. I just formed the opinion on ALL LC diets from that. Well, the other night I was looking through some books to sell and there was the Atkins book, so I started reading it. It wasn't mine, someone gave me a bunch of books to sell for them. Dr. Atkins made some awesome statements in that book! I am impressed. Now I am planning my grocery list for next week based on the 14 day jump start program. I figure I will start this and my husband will back me up in this as he is afraid of my health getting worse with the extra weight and no exercise. So I am planning on a easy slow walking program on my road. Adding some dumbbell work outs as I get more into it. My energy level is good though. I am not a napper or a tv watcher, most of the day I am busy. And I don't eat processed foods at all.......most everything I eat is made from scratch and much of it is grown by us or bought locally at farms or our local Mennonite market. Sorry to go on so. I guess your site, the blogs and all really got me fired up. I've been here all day. katlupe |

Kathleen. Reading DANDR is a great start to learning about a low carb lifestyle. As you can tell from the book, a low carb lifestyle is all about healthy eating, not about fads. Understanding the science behind it will help you make the necessary changes so that it truly becomes a lifestyle you can follow and not a "diet". Good luck on your weight loss journey.

| Glad to have you with us, Kathleen. As you may have surmised by this point, "Meat and Water" is not a LC eating program --veggies are a staple of a healthy LC lifestyle; what you described is a crash diet, of the same ilk as the kazillions of unhealthy crash diets out there. I agree with your conclusions about that: got "bad idea" written all over it. Good luck with your new balanced, healthy eating plan.
