Red face Hi I'm new

A friend told me about this site. Happy & relieved to find you! Doctor's app't just after Thanksgiving told me I have to lose 30 pounds or I'll be getting into the pre-diabetic range. Actually I want to lose more than that. I've already started, 1st five pounds, not much...& I am so dreading the holiday calories.

Hope I've found support here. How are you hoping to manage holiday temptations? Helllp!

Hey, Jill.

If you go to the front page of this site, you'll find a little "search" box. Type in the word "holiday" and you'll get a list of articles and recipes that will surely give you some ideas and inspirations.

incidently, you can use the search on top of any page and you'll get the same list of results: a combination of stuff in the fourms and articles, etc. one-stop searching.

glad to have you with us, Jill! You started LCing for a very solid reason, which I think will be helpful in keeping you on course overall. The Plan B don't sound so good, y'kno? That's the same reason I started LCing.

during holidays, the single thing i find most helpful is experimenting with recipes for LC treats and keeping stuff on hand to make them. If I have stuff readily available that is as appealing to me as the junk stuff AND I don't feel bad when I eat it, it's not hard to do that. functions, I make sure I bring something I'd be happy eating. I'd spend some time in the cooking forum here, or check out some of our cooking section for ideas. Use the Recipe Box to search for LC recipes. Invest in a LC cookbook, perhaps. Learn how to adapt your favoirte recipes or find a LC version.

See, when you're thinking "controlling temptation," then you're in a deprivation mindset and you're struggling against the current. When you're thinking, "This is great, too!" however, you're not swimming upstream anymore. See the difference?

Jill. Are you following a specific plan. It helps to understand the science of low carb diets if you read the book about your plan. I follow Atkins, as do many here. Others do Protein Power or South Beach. Whatever plan you decide on, please read the book so that you will have a better handle on how it works and will help you tweak it to fit your needs. good luck.
