Default I'm new here also

I'm not starting until Monday - still have some "holiday parties" to attend, but am really looking forward to getting on track. I am a 43 y/o mom of 2 - a 5y/o girl and a 2 y/o boy. Since the baby was born I have been having a lot of trouble losing the weight even with 5 miles per day of skating - I am really hoping that this will be the answer - I have about 30 - 35 pounds to lose and my husband will be joining me on the journey. I am certain I will be a regular to the site. Thanks in advance for listening and the support. MB

Glad to have you with us, Mary!

You're already ahead of the game with regular physical activity and a supportive spouse. Good news! Both of those things will help a lot, and as a bonus: low carb maximizes the effectiveness of exercise.

What plan are you using? Are you squared away with your shopping yet?

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Mary. Regular exercise is important for sustained weight loss. It sounds like you are psyched up to start. Good luck on your journey.

Hi,

I am 43 too! Had a really tough year. 1st, my son has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. He has had surgery and is doing better now. Second, though I have taught special ed for 16 years, I was unable to get a position this year due to having to many years experience (expensive). With that and dealing with my Dad having cancer (who is now doing better), I have gain so much weight in the last 15 months (about 40 lbs.). I need to lose 60. I have done low carbs before. I have never joined a site before, so this is new to me. Would you or anyone else like to be buddy's? Let me know.

Tammy

Hi Tammy! Welcome! I am pretty new myself. This site is great and you are going to love it. Keeps me motivated daily. You've been going through some tough stuff in your life. It's good that you are taking the time for yourself too.

I was wondering due to your user name if you are a twin or have twins?

Good Luck!

Hi Katlupe and Maggie,

I am an identical twin. My twin lives about an hour and half from me. She is a little bigger than I. Her name is Nellie, and mine is Tammy. She doesn't believe in low carb diets, but do! Thank you for your posts!

Hi Tammy,
Sorry to hear about your tough 15 months. I hope all is going to be much better this year. Although not as serious as your sons situation, my 2 y/o son has to have surgery on 1/13/09 for bladder reflux, and as you can imagine, it is a very stressful time. I am going to need all the support I can get to stick to my plan.(trying Atkins induction). I'll be staying in the hospital with him for 3-4 days. I'd really like to have a buddy as well.

HI

Thank you for making me feel so welcome! My son brain tumor is called Craniopharyngioma tumor. He had brain surgery 11/30/07. We we in the hospital for 13 days. You can learn more about him and us on carepages.com. We are under tammytimmy (no space). I am glad I am making friends who are dieting with low carbs! It is hard to stick to, especially the first two weeks. But can get easier.

Samhanson,

My prayers will be with you and your son at this time. I do know how stressful it is. Hang in there, and I pray everything will go as expected. Dieting and dealing with stress is so difficult, I know! I definitely would like you has a buddy. I added you to my contact list. God bless, and take care!
