Default New mom looking to lose weight

Hey everyone my name is Jenn and I'm a new mom to a 3 month old boy. I was on a diet before getting pregnant and now that he's here I would like to continue my weight loss. I am going to start the Atkins diet soon and hope to lose my remaining weight. I would like to find a few friends who are doing the same type of diet as I am.

Jennifer. Congratulations on deciding to take charge of your weight. Weight loss and weight management are not easy. One of the things about Atkins that appealed to me was that it offered a seamless transition from weight loss to weight management and offered me the opportunity to get off the weight loss roller coaster I was on for so many years. For your long-term success, I hope you will stop thinking of Atkins as a "diet". A diet is something you go off of and then the weight simply returns and you get to go on a "diet" again. Low/controlled carb eating is truly a healthy lifestyle that you can follow as a WOE (Way of Eating). Good luck

Welcome!

Henry's right, this is a way of eating, not a diet, and a lifestyle you can maintain indefinitely. Make sure you get the book and read it cover to cover. You'll learn so much that way.

Congrats on that new baby! You're in for years and years of fun!

Welcome Jenn! Congratulations on the baby boy too! I'm following Atkins too and plan on eating this way forever. You came to the right place.

Welcome, Jenn. Congrats, not only on the new baby, but also on the decision to take charge of your weight now. (I had about 15 years of carrying my "baby weight" plus before I got clued in myself. Ha!)

I would echo Henry's suggestion to work on changing how you think about LCing as well. I think it's probably the same for most of us: we start off looking for a diet, but what we find in the end is a way of eating that allows us to maintain a reasonable weight and good health. At least, that was certainly true for me.

Best wishes to you on your new journey!! Glad to have you with us.
