Default Hello from North Dakota

I found this site by accident and glad I did. I have been doing low carb for a number of years and "cheat" here and there and boy did that slowly catch up with me. Low carb is a great lifestyle which I do enjoy and look forward to the support from other Low carbers here on the forum! With spring and summer coming, I host a "Battle of the Bulge" contest on my radio station each year at this time. My team mate and I both do low carb and hope to have some fun with the contest plus lose the weight and encourage others to drop some pounds. This looks like a great site!

Hi Rick, glad you found us! Sound like you already know the program, and like most of us you know what happens when you cheat, this is definately a lifestyle change. But like you it's one I can live with. I think it's great you're hosting a "batle of the buldge show" and actually participating, good going. Best of luck, hope to see you around often.

hello, Rick. Glad to have you with us (and glad you're finding the site useful thusfar). Always glad to have more experience LCers on board--we help keep each other honest. And how cool that you do a contest on your show! Sounds like fun and a good way to help let folks know about LC...and maybe the support you find here can help you find your way to needing some new participants for your contest eventually.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Welcome, Rick. From another North Dakotan (West Fargo). This site has really been helpful to me since I started in September. The hardest part for me has always been cooking. It's just so much easier to hit a fast food place. I have really made use of the recipes and the cooking advice of veteran low carbers. I've gotten to a place where I have a low carb version of almost all my favorite foods. That has especially helped with my sweet tooth. I have a low carb dessert every day and don't have to feel guilty about it. Wahoo!

Glad to hear from all the great folks here as well a fellow Nodakian! Well we kicked off the Battle of the Bulge contest today on air and it was a blast. I am starting out with the 2 week induction and limiting myself to 20 carbs per day. To damn cold to go out walking after work, we had a daytime of -6 with a windchill of 30 below. A warm up coming up later this week so that will be the time to get out walking. Low carb has been and still is so easy. I am glad I found this forum to help me disipline myself. The only thing I will miss during the contest is the Schwans Carb Comfort Ice cream. But I am determined to get back in my Wranglers!

Welcome, Rick!

I love lc ice cream, but have a problem with portion control. Who can eat just 1/2 cup of the stuff?????!!!!

Low carb sure is easy most of the time. And, I hope you get a nice warm spell for some good walking.
