Default hey people

I'm brand new to this site. I'm doing Atkins for the second time...I did it about 3 years ago and lost about 30 lbs. I've gained it all back since, and then some. I'm 5'7" and started at 245. I just finished my third week doing induction and have only lost about 4 lbs and no inches to speak of. I started reading posts about 4-5 days ago after not losing and decided to cut out aspartame, Atkins bars, and Atkins shakes. Still no movement.
I've been exercising about 4 days a week. Any ideas?

Thanks...really enjoy what I've been able to read so far.

Hi Adam,
Welcome to LCE

Sometimes the *second time around* is a little slower than the first.
We fooled our bodies the first time, but it won't be fooled again...
Some ideas to"examine"

~ drinking plenty of water?
~ paying attention to portions?...this DOES matter for some of us.

Perhaps if you posted a typical day's food intake/menu, we might spot something that is holding you back.

Above all...keep on keeping on. Often times patience will pay off...BIG TIME!

Give it time, Adam. You're a bit older now, your metabolism is a bit slower, so weight loss will be a bit slower, too. Bummer, yeah, but a fact of life. Just hang in there, tweak your plan (as you have already done with getting rid of some of the unnecessary faux foods), eat as fresh naturally as you can.

Wishing you much success.

Welcome, Adam. Glad to have you join us!

Dropping the bars in particular will probably be helpful. Also, be aware of any specialty foods labeled as LC that you eat, as certain ones cause problems for folks, and it varies from person to person which ones. In general, though, the more natural your food, the better you'll do. If you continue to be concerned about your rate of losses, though, posting some menus indeed could be helpful.

If you're losing anything and you're feeling good, then you're probably on the right track overall. Sometimes it just takes a while, and rate of loss is highly individual. Likewise, patterns vary from person to person. I tend to lose a bit, hold, lose a bit, hold. Things that help me when I'm in a slow loss period:
  • Measuring food - My eyeballs sure do underestimate what I'm eating sometimes!
  • Keeping up on supps - I take a lot of vitamins and various supps that help keep me in the swing, and do better on my program when I am taking them.
  • Movement - which you're doing! That's great and does help.
  • Drinking my water - makes a big difference for me.
  • watching items that have proven problemmatic for me personally - too much cream cheese or heavy cream, for example, will bring my losses to a screeching halt.
Anyway, those are a few examples. Just keep experiementing and keep asking questions, because that's the way to figure it out and move on.

hey all. thanks for all the responses. I'm drinking the water, but just really started about a week ago. As far as what I'm eating, it's usually just something quick in the morning (i'm habitually running late) like a few slices of bacon, or a few slices of bologna or something. Lunch is usually my leftovers from the night before. My usual dinner is chicken breasts baked with onions or green peppers and then canned green beans. Usually 3 breasts, approx. 1.5 lbs. and I eat half at night and the rest for lunch the next day. I play around with different spices, but no sugary sauces or anything.
again, thanks for all your previous responses...i'll keep them all in mind as i keep trudging.

Hi Adam,
It sounds like you are certainly doing things right. The only thing you might double check is the *processed* meats...like the bologna. They can sometimes have *hidden* carbs, and are most always laden with preservatives(nitrites). Some bacons are also processed with sugars as well.

A few breakfast ideas that might help you shake things up...
If you like hardboiled eggs, boil a dozen on Sunday, and peel them the night before your workday, put them in a ziplock baggie, and they are good to go with you.
Also, depending on your taste, but veggies can be for breakfast as well.
If you have the time while prepping your dinner, make yourself an omlet with some of your dinner veggies; let it cool; and again, put it in a ziplock baggie, and you have brekkie the next morning. I do this alot, and I'll pop it in the microwave the minute I get to work, then I can eat it while I'm getting things ready for the day.
Also a OMM(one minute muffin) is a good "to go" breakfast item. Recipe is in the cooking forum.

Again...way to go on using the leftovers for lunch! I'm hoping you are adding some salad greens to that chicken and having a nice caesar salad?!

I think you'll start seeing results before long. Keep us posted, OK?

Hang in there and keep on keepin' on!
