| I have been an on and off again low carber since 2004. I have been able to lose 38 pounds through lcing and have regained 20 of them in the past nine months. All kinds of excuses of course..weddings, vacations, sickness, etc. But, the bottom line is my weight is going up, up, up. I have tried to do the low cal, low fat thing. But, whether it is all in my mind or not... I simply can not lose any real weight that way. So I have decided it is time to get back to the only thing that really worked for me and that is low carb. I know I have gotten lazy about it... and being hit or miss on my carb counts, and taking every other weekend off simply is not gonna work. It is time to get serious.... so here I am hoping to get fired up and be around others who are staying focused. Maybe some of it will rub off.... |

| Welcome, Vandy! It is really easier to stay focused when you have others doing the same thing. Low carb is hard since there are so many against it, but those of us who know the benefits of it can't sing its praises enough. Weekends are rough for me, too. I get busy catching up on housework, and tend to nibble rather than take the time to fix a real meal, and then before I know it, I've nibbled my way far above my daily carb allowance! So, perhaps the 2 of us can resolve to focus on eating great on the weekend, no excuses! Wishing you much success!

| Hi Crystal, I know exactly what you are going through. I have been on low carb for nearly long as you and have fallen off the wagon. But for the most part though I have stuck with the basics. I think all here can agree that LC is the most logical way to lose weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle. We are rootin for ya!!

| Welcome, Vandy. Hon, you don't know how loud and clear I hear ya. It's easy enough to get sloppy and we pay the price for it. Carb creep is an isidious foe! I'm glad you like the tone of this community. I sure do! The folks here are friendly, knowledable, and helpful. You can't beat 'em if you ask me, although I'll admit I could be minorly biased. (But that doesn't mean I'm not right!) What's your plan of choice?

| Thanks everyone for all the nice words... and warm welcome. I am doing basic Atkins induction right now. I am starting to feel better already and I know the scale is starting to move the right way too. I really have to work on life after induction...it seems like I am good at keeping carbs at 20 or lower. When I start to up them I just can't seem to keep a balance.. I go overboard again. So, I am going to be working on that. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to welcome me here.... |

| Vandy, I am finding that diffcult myself. Sticking to 20 carbs is easier than adding more in. I think I will try to stick to 25 for awhile and see if that makes it easier. Then after awhile add another five. Didn't sound like it would be a problem, but I have found myself going way over what I planned. katlupe |
